Freshmen of the 2021 cohort participate in orientation sessions on using traditional and modern library services

    From September 27 to September 28, 2021, the Library of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), VNUHCM, in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs, organized 30 online library orientation sessions on both traditional and modern library services for more than 3,500 freshmen of the 2021 cohort.

The program included three main components:

• Content 1: General introduction to the University Library, its collections, and electronic databases; as well as information products and services provided by the Library and the VNUHCM Library System.
• Content 2: An interactive quiz on library regulations with rewards.
• Content 3: Guidance on how to search for, access, and effectively use library resources and databases.

In addition, after attending the sessions, freshmen were required to complete a test and evaluation form to reinforce their understanding and to help the Library improve the quality of future training programs.

Despite certain challenges during the sessions, such as large class sizes and occasional technical and internet connectivity issues, the Library successfully delivered all planned content. Many students actively interacted and participated in the activities.

The Library hopes that these orientation sessions will provide practical benefits for freshmen in accessing and utilizing the University Library and the VNUHCM Library System, especially in supporting online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
