Solutions for Preventing Plagiarism in Research Activities

     On the afternoon of Tuesday (August 7, 2018), at the Đinh Tiên Hoàng campus, the Center for Information and Library, in collaboration with the Center for Sea and Island Studies of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNUHCM, organized a seminar entitled “Solutions to Prevent Data Duplication in Research – Data Duplication.”

Currently, plagiarism has become an increasingly serious issue. As a result, within the educational and training development policies as well as science and technology strategies of many countries, plagiarism prevention has emerged as a top priority—one that is equally emphasized by universities.

Recognizing the seriousness of this issue, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNUHCM organized the seminar “Solutions to Prevent Data Duplication in Research – Data Duplication,” with the participation of Dr. Phan Thanh Dinh, Vice President of the University; Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen, former President and Director of the Center for Strategic and National Policy Studies, who served as the moderator; invited speakers including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Anh Cuong, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Ngoc Hung, and Dr. Vo Dinh Hieu from the University of Engineering and Technology (VNU Hanoi), and Ton Duc Thang University; along with representatives from various departments and faculties of the University.

              Dr. Phan Thanh Dinh, Vice Rector of the University, delivered the opening remarks at the seminar.

At the seminar, Dr. Le Thanh Hoa (Director of the Center for Sea and Island Studies) and M.A. Bui Thu Hang presented the trial results of using Turnitin and DoIT software for detecting data duplication.

In addition to valuable experience shared by invited speakers on the implementation of data duplication prevention solutions at VNU Hanoi, the seminar also fostered a spirit of active contribution, exchange, and discussion. It received numerous inputs from various units, thereby laying the groundwork for selecting appropriate solutions to support teaching and research activities at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNUHCM.

Dr. Vo Dinh Hieu, Deputy Head of the Software Engineering Division, Faculty of Information Technology, University of Engineering and Technology, VNU Hanoi, and leader of the DoIT software development team, addressed questions related to the software from representatives of various departments and faculties.
