The Proceedings of the 2024 International Conference on English Language Teaching (ICELT 2024) with the theme “Glocalization and ELT” compiles research works and academic exchanges surrounding the new movements in teaching and learning English in a context that is both globalized and focused on local characteristics. This is the 7th International Conference on English Language Teaching, continuing the series of conferences organized since 2012 by the Faculty of English Linguistics and Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
ICELT 2024 was organized in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, taking place over two days, August 30–31, 2024, bringing together 5 keynote speakers and over 30 presenters from many countries. The topics of discussion focused on various issues in current English language teaching such as glocalization, culture, language skills, intercultural education, and sustainable development. The proceedings also introduce research, reports, and posters from students, lecturers, experts, researchers, and professionals both domestically and internationally.
The proceedings consist of 19 research works, addressing various diverse approaches such as the second language community of international students, task-based speaking activities, intercultural communicative competence, English as a lingua franca, the integration of cultural knowledge and popular culture in teaching, English for specific purposes, teaching in the digital age, the application of artificial intelligence in learning, and professional issues for those working in English language teaching.
Through the selected research, the proceedings contribute to providing academic perspectives and practical experience on the adaptation of English language teaching to the new requirements of education and integration, while also creating additional reference materials for lecturers, researchers, learners, and the community interested in the field of ELT.
