Today, ASEAN can be proud of the achievements they have made in promoting regionalism over the past four decades. There is now peace, security, and prosperity in the region. There are comprehensive commitments at all levels between ASEAN member countries, as well as between ASEAN countries and other nations. More and more countries want to join the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, and more countries are sending ambassadors to the ASEAN organization. Furthermore, the region is increasingly attracting attention due to its economic potential and is considered a desirable market for investment, goods, and services. To provide readers with further research materials and references on the process of moving towards a unified ASEAN and achieving the current milestones, the National Political Publishing House has published the book "One Southeast Asia - Common destiny, common future". The book consists of articles and research reports by several leaders and researchers from ASEAN countries during the years 1991 – 1997, presented at conferences with the theme "Interact to develop". The content of the book includes five parts: Part I: Focuses on the theme of moving towards regional reconciliation; Part II: Presents the goal of building trust and regional cooperation; Part III: Delves into analyzing the common destiny of the region; Part IV: Affirms Vietnam's ASEAN membership status; Part V: Includes reports from research groups.
