In "Truyen Kieu: Unfinished thoughts...", the author pays less attention to researching the artistic aspects of The Tale of Kieu, but focuses on discussing human behavior in life through a "thorough and detailed" analysis of every action, gesture, and word of the characters, from Thuy Kieu, Kim Trong, Tu Hai, and Thuy Van to Thuc Sinh, Hoan Thu, Ho Ton Hien... From initial articles about a few specific characters, she has progressed to highly generalized articles about the masterpiece of Nguyen Du. The humanistic values of The Tale of Kieu, the Buddhist space in The Tale of Kieu, the life philosophy in The Tale of Kieu... are not necessarily new issues, however, Phan Thi Thanh Thuy still presents her own interpretations and unique assessments that are unlike anyone else's but truly thought-provoking. Writing many articles about The Tale of Kieu in a short time and publishing them all at once in such a substantial book is a miracle, at least for someone who has never been a professional researcher or critic. The author has shown that in receiving literary masterpieces, no one can provide the final verdict on their value. The opportunity to interpret and explain is still open to all, especially for those who do not accept propositions immediately, but only believe in their own sensitivity and in the enduring significance of dialogue activities in a spirit of responsibility. Excerpt from – "Introduction – Truyen Kieu: Unfinished thoughts..." We respectfully introduce this to our readers! |
