The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM, has recently introduced a new student amenity at the Hall D lobby of its Saigon campus: a complimentary mobile charging station.

The initiative directly addresses the growing need for students to "recharge" their electronic devices. While existing power outlets are scattered across the campus, library, and self-study rooms, the university has strategically installed this free charging station in a high-traffic area frequented by students after classes.
Designed with simplicity and functionality in mind, the station is equipped with multiple diverse sockets and charging ports compatible with most popular smartphone models. It also features integrated shelves for students to securely place their devices while charging.
Despite being newly operational, the station has quickly become a popular spot due to its central, highly visible, and easily accessible location.
"I find this charging station very effective. We can charge our phones and laptops to support our studies. Previously, when my battery ran out, I had to go to the library or find a spare outlet in previous classrooms. Now, with this station, it's much more convenient and essential, especially since our student body is quite large," shared Pham Thuan Phat, a sophomore studying Tourism.

Vu Thi Ngoc Anh, a junior studying Journalism and Communication, shared: "The free charging station on campus has been a lifesaver when I’m racing against deadlines and my laptop runs out of battery. I no longer have to hunt for seats in crowded cafeterias or cafes just to find a power outlet."
A representative from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities stated: "The University recognizes the growing demand for device charging among students. Currently, the limited number of public power outlets has led to students having to wait or share sockets. Taking inspiration from models at other public spaces and educational institutions, the University has implemented these charging stations as a practical solution to facilitate student learning and campus life."
The charging stations are currently in a pilot phase to evaluate their suitability and effectiveness. The University plans to install additional stations at the Linh Xuan campus in December, gradually expanding this amenity to better serve students in the future."
