On the morning of October 10, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City (USSH, VNUHCM) organized a preliminary results announcement and closing ceremony for the 408th AUN-QA external assessment. During the event, experts presented general observations regarding the strengths and areas for improvement for the Library and Information Science program (USSH) and the Pharmacy program (University of Health Sciences).
The program featured the participation of experts from various universities in the Philippines, Thailand, and Cambodia serving as AUN-QA assessors; Prof. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, PhD - Vice Chancellor of VNUHCM; Duong Ton Thai Duong, PhD - Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Department, VNUHCM; Nguyen Minh Huyen Trang, PhD - Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Department, VNUHCM; representatives from units under VNUHCM; representatives from the Board of Rectors of USSH; the University of Health Sciences; and leaders and faculty members from the departments whose training programs were assessed.

At the results report session, members of the external assessment team presented the preliminary results for the quality assessment process of the two departments. According to the assessors, the highly qualified faculty, who always demonstrate a spirit of learning and professional development, is a highlight of these programs. Furthermore, building a well-structured curriculum has helped students and learners both grasp a solid theoretical foundation and gain opportunities to experience the actual labor market. The experts also spoke highly of the fact that the universities have digitized resource systems to serve student learning and research, while also implementing facility upgrades for various purposes.

However, through the assessment as well as interviews with teachers and learners, the assessment team pointed out a number of remaining limitations in the training programs. In general, the departments need to pay more attention to supporting students in conducting scientific research and connecting with partners to establish research support funds. In addition, information about the labor market and internship and employment opportunities needs to be expanded and updated regularly for learners. The application of artificial intelligence and foreign languages in teaching and learning also needs to be developed reasonably to keep up with social trends.
Delivering the closing remarks at the ceremony, Prof. Arnulfo P. Azcarraga, PhD - Head of the Assessment Team expressed his gratitude for the enthusiastic cooperation and support of the faculty, students, and related units during the assessment process. He hopes that the results of this assessment will help further improve the quality of the teaching programs of the two departments and create a good premise for future meetings.

On behalf of VNUHCM, Prof. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, PhD thanked the AUN-QA assessment team for bringing objective, in-depth, and highly constructive results, contributing significantly to the improvement of the training programs. In addition, she added: "To prepare for the assessment, the related units had planned the activities at least a year in advance. About 180 people participated in organizing and conducting the interviews, including assessors, lecturers, students, support staff, and many other silent contributors." Faced with the success of the 408th AUN-QA assessment, Prof. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, PhD once again expressed her appreciation for all the aforementioned contributions.

AUN (ASEAN University Network) is the quality assurance organization of the ASEAN University Network. AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance) is a set of standards with strict quality rules, specific and clear criteria, focusing on the comprehensive assessment of training programs from many aspects. The assessment activities for training programs within VNUHCM are organized regularly, contributing to further improving the quality of teaching and learning, and affirming the prestige and attractiveness of member universities in the ASEAN region.
