Completion of AUN-QA external assessment for the Bachelor of Cultural Studies and Bachelor of Literature programs

From October 14 to 16, 2025, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City hosted the external assessment delegation from the ASEAN University Network (AUN) to work within the framework of quality assessment for two undergraduate programs: Cultural Studies (Faculty of Cultural Studies) and Literature (Faculty of Literature and Linguistics).
The external assessment delegation included:
- Prof. Arnulfo P. Azcarraga (Philippines) – Team Leader
- Assoc. Prof. Streerut Thadakant (Thailand)
- Assoc. Prof. Amalina Muhammad Afifi (Malaysia)
- Assoc. Prof. Kanog-on Rungrojngarmcharoen (Thailand)
- Ms. Jirachaya Saithong (Thailand) – Delegation Secretary

The AUN external assessment delegation at the opening ceremony
On the morning of October 14, 2025, the opening ceremony of the AUN-QA external assessment was solemnly held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, while simultaneously connecting online with the University of Economics and Law, which also had academic programs assessed during this AUN round.
At the opening ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh – Director of the Center for Educational Testing and Quality Assessment, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the significance of external assessment activities in continuously improving the quality of education towards regional and international standards.

During the three working days, the AUN-QA external assessment delegation conducted activities according to the AUN assessment process, including:
- Reviewing the self-assessment reports of the academic programs;
- Interviewing relevant stakeholder groups (Faculty leadership, academic program managers, self-assessment report writing teams, support staff, lecturers, students, alumni, and employers);
- Visiting facilities for training and learning at the University's two campuses.
The working atmosphere was professional, open, and highly collaborative between the assessment experts and the assessed units.

On the morning of October 16, 2025, the closing ceremony of the AUN-QA external assessment was held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, with the attendance of representatives from Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, members of the assessment delegation, as well as leadership and staff from the faculties with assessed programs at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Economics and Law.

At the closing ceremony, the assessment delegation presented their preliminary findings, recognizing the efforts and commitment to quality improvement of the assessed programs. Representatives of Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City and university leadership also expressed their gratitude and affirmed that they would continue to implement improvement activities based on the expert delegation's recommendations.
