Center for Information, Library and Museum welcomes representative from Toyama Library, Waseda University (Japan)

      On the morning of March 5, 2026, at the Saigon campus of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, the Center for Information, Library and Museum organized a meeting with Mr. Atsushi Hasegawa, Head of Toyama Library at Waseda University (Japan). The meeting took place in an intimate and open atmosphere, aiming to strengthen professional exchanges and promote cooperation in the field of information and library between the two units.

    Attending the meeting, on behalf of the Center for Information, Library and Museum were Dr. Bui Thu Hang – Director of the Center, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy – Deputy Director of the Center, along with specialists from the Center. Representing the partner was Mr. Atsushi Hasegawa – Head of Toyama Library, Waseda University (Japan).

   In her opening remarks at the meeting, Dr. Bui Thu Hang provided an overview of the formation, development, and outstanding activities of the Center for Information, Library and Museum, especially the orientation for digital library development, expanding academic resources, and implementing learning and research support services for the University's lecturers and students.

   At the meeting, Mr. Atsushi Hasegawa gave an overview of the Toyama Library – Waseda University, one of the prestigious university libraries in Japan, with extensive experience in developing research support services, managing digital resources, and providing modern library services for learners. He also shared some practical experiences in organizing academic services, supporting scientific research, and effectively exploiting library resources in an international university environment.

During the professional exchange, both sides discussed many contents related to data systems and issues regarding the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in library operations.

After the working session, Mr. Atsushi Hasegawa visited the Center's Japanese collection – a repository of academic materials serving research on Japanese studies, Japanese language, and culture at the University.

    Following the morning session, on the afternoon of the same day, March 5, 2026, Mr. Atsushi Hasegawa continued to visit the exhibition spaces of the Museum under the Center for Information, Library and Museum. During the tour, representatives of the Center introduced the model combining library, museum, and information center in preserving, exploiting, and promoting the value of resources serving teaching, learning, and scientific research.

   The meeting between the Center for Information, Library and Museum and the representative of Toyama Library, Waseda University was an important occasion to enhance international academic exchange and share experiences in managing and developing university libraries in the digital age. At the same time, this activity also contributes to promoting the integration and sustainable development orientation of the university library system in Vietnam, especially in improving the quality of support services for learning and research for the academic community.
