As part of the "Loving Bookshelf" program series, on April 19, marking the 5th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21), the Center for Information, Library and Museum, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City organized a book donation event for the private library in Cu Lao Rua (Tan Khanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).
Dr. Bui Thu Hang - Director of the Center for Information, Library and Museum, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, presents the symbolic board and books to Mr. Mai Song Be, representative of Cu Lao Rua Library, and local primary school students.
The private library in Cu Lao Rua is a dedicated project by journalist Mai Song Be - former Director of the Radio and Television Station, former Chairman of the Dong Nai Journalists Association - who has devoted his passion for words to building a free reading space for the community.From a few thousand initial books, the library has grown into a "living knowledge hub" with over 10,000 titles across various fields. Beyond preserving knowledge, this place is also a friendly cultural gathering space where citizens, especially students, find the joy of reading, nurture their thinking, and form lifelong learning habits.
In a context where reading culture in some areas is still limited, private library models like Cu Lao Rua have practical significance, contributing to nurturing the spiritual life of the community.

Continuing that journey of spreading knowledge, marking the 5th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21), the Center for Information, Library and Museum, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City organized the book donation for the library. The activity reflects a meaningful connection between the university, press agencies, and a community library model rich in humanitarian values.

At the program, Dr. Bui Thu Hang - Director of the Center for Information, Library and Museum, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City presented 100 titles/100 books, with a total value of over 10 million VND, to Cu Lao Rua Library and local primary school students. The selected books are suitable for various readers, contributing to supplementing resources and expanding opportunities to access knowledge for local people. Beyond their material value, each book carries a message of sharing, becoming "seeds of knowledge" to nurture a passion for learning in the community.
This activity is part of the "Loving Bookshelf" program series implemented by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City over the past 6 years. To date, the program has donated more than 30 bookshelves with over 5,250 titles/8,360 books, totaling over 500 million VND, to many localities. Not only present in schools, but these bookshelves are also taken to difficult areas such as remote, isolated, and border regions, contributing to creating friendly reading spaces, encouraging reading habits, and improving the quality of education in the community.

Starting from the pages of books today, the journey of spreading knowledge will continue, contributing to building a learning community in the future.
