RULES FOR THE PRELIMINARY ROUND OF THE “UNCLE HO IN MY HEART” CONTEST (5TH EDITION), 2026
1. ELIGIBILITY
Officials, staff, and learners within the Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City system.
2. CONTENT
Share your feelings about a book or a legally circulated work that you have studied/read by President Ho Chi Minh or by other authors writing about Him, which has inspired, raised awareness, and guided you to consistently study and follow President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style.
3. TIMELINE
Submission period for the preliminary round: from April 21, 2026, to June 21, 2026.
4. ENTRY REGULATIONS
- Entries must be original creative works by the individual contestant (video clips must be performed by the contestant themselves, including voice-overs and narration), which have never been displayed, exhibited, published in any media, on the internet, or submitted to other contests.
- Cases using content, excerpts, quotes, paintings, images, etc., belonging to others in the entry must include full citations. Video clips using images, music, or sound must comply with copyright regulations; the contestant is held responsible for any legal disputes related to copyright infringement or violations of state-prohibited content (if any). During the submission process, if a high rate of duplication or evidence of plagiarism from the internet, previous years' entries, or other sources is detected, the Organizing Committee (OC) will disqualify the entry.
- Contestants must submit entries independently (group submissions are not allowed).
- Contestants may present their entries in 03 forms: Reflective essay, Video clip, or Drawing:
+ Reflective essay: Can be handwritten or typed, ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 words. Images may be inserted to make the essay more vivid (contestants are encouraged to take/design their own illustrations). If the entry is handwritten, please submit a typed version for the OC to check for duplication;
+ Video clip: In the form of video recording or film editing; special visual and audio effects may be used.
- For standard video clips: minimum resolution of 640px * 480px. Duration must be at least 03 minutes and no longer than 05 minutes, saved in common formats: mp4, avi, mpeg, mkv, klv, etc.;
- For TikTok video clips: must meet HD standard (720p or higher), 9:16 aspect ratio, and contain no TikTok watermark. Duration must be at least 1 minute and no longer than 03 minutes, and must be created using the TikTok or CapCut platform.
+ Drawing: Hand-drawn by the individual on paper with a maximum size of A2 (42x59.4 cm) or created as high-resolution digital art; no copying in any form, saved in common formats: .png, .jpg, .gif.
- Language: Vietnamese.
- Materials shared in the entry must be legally published in Vietnam (contestants are encouraged to share recently published materials), noting that specific and complete information about the publication source must be provided.
- The OC reserves the right to use submitted works for the purpose of promoting the contest and reading encouragement activities.
- The OC reserves the right to change the prize structure depending on the number of entries.
- All participating contestants will receive a certificate of participation from the OC.
5. HOW TO PARTICIPATE
- Contestants submit entries via email at cilm@hcmussh.edu.vn with the subject line: “BHTTTT 2026 + Unit Name” and fill in the required information in the online entry form here.
- In case of direct submission, please attach the information form filled out according to the template here.
6. SCORING CRITERIA
The entries will be judged by the Jury based on each category with the following criteria:
- Content: 50 points (including: Clear structure and layout - 20 points; Message and significance (educational value, motivation, etc.) - 20 points; Sharing personal feelings and experiences - 10 points);
- Presentation: 40 points (including: No plagiarism, clear layout, compliance with rules - 20 points; Coherent writing style, clear, pure Vietnamese language - 20 points);
- Bonus points: 10 points (including: Creativity: using new technology, new methods; being persuasive, evoking strong emotions for readers/listeners/viewers).
8. FINAL ROUND
- The Top 20 entries in each category from the preliminary round will be selected by the OC for the final round. These entries will be posted on the fanpage “Uncle Ho in My Heart” Contest, and online voting will be organized on the Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space, USSH, VNUHCM page >> Uncle Ho in My Heart Contest section. The entry in each form with the highest number of votes will win the Most Popular Entry award.
- For entries on the TikTok platform, they will be posted on the TikTok channel <<depnhattennguoi_ussh>> with the hashtag #BacHotrongtraitimtoi #BHtttt #BookTok. Scoring method: 1 like = 1 point, 1 share = 2 points (the account used for voting must be a real account and will only count after following the channel). Based on the scoring timeline mentioned, the OC will aggregate the total likes and shares of the entries. After that, these will be converted into points and ranked from highest to lowest; the entry with the highest interaction will win the TikTok Video with Highest Interaction award.
- In case of detecting any technical manipulation to increase interaction, the voting results will be disqualified.
