The full-time undergraduate program in Vietnamese Studies for international students enrolled its first cohort in August 2001, with the training program code 7310630. Foreign nationals who have graduated from high school and hold a Vietnamese Language Proficiency Certificate at level 3/6 or higher may submit an application for admission to the undergraduate program in Vietnamese Studies at the University.
Over 25 years of implementation with 25 cohorts, over 900 international applicants have been admitted, with more than 800 enrolling. To date, nearly 500 international students have graduated and received a Bachelor’s degree in Vietnamese Studies.
This is an undergraduate program in Vietnamese Studies, delivered as a full-time, intensive course over 04 years with a total academic workload ranging from 120 to 125 credits. The program is designed to equip individuals with general knowledge in social sciences and humanities, and a comprehensive understanding of the country and people of Vietnam; viewing Vietnam within regional and international contexts; fostering professional work skills and a responsible, proactive attitude toward the development of the field of Vietnamese Studies. Based on the knowledge and training acquired, graduates are able to secure suitable employment, apply theoretical knowledge to professional practice, and demonstrate a progressive spirit, self-learning and teamwork abilities, and adaptability to working environments in Vietnam, those related to Vietnam, or multicultural settings.
- Training scale:
Every year, the Faculty admits between 50 to 70 students into the full-time Bachelor’s program in Vietnamese Studies.
- Admission requirements:
Applicants must be foreign nationals who have graduated from high school and hold a minimum level 2/6 (A2) Vietnamese Language Proficiency Certificate issued by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City. The certificate must be valid for at least 2 years from the date of issuance to the date of application submission.

+ Training duration: The full-time Bachelor’s program in Vietnamese Studies for international students has a duration of 04 academic years. Depending on individual conditions and capabilities, the study period can be shortened by a maximum of 02 semesters and extended by a maximum of 04 semesters, meaning the minimum time to complete the program is 3 years and the maximum is 6 years.
+ Total academic workload: The total workload is 123 credits, consisting of 02 blocks of knowledge: General education knowledge (29 credits) and Professional education knowledge (94 credits). Additionally, students must accumulate and submit a General Informatics Certificate at the end of the course to be considered for graduation.

Career opportunities
Graduates in Vietnamese Studies have the ability to teach and research the Vietnamese language at universities, colleges, and high schools in their home countries or at educational institutions located in Vietnam; work as translators/interpreters for foreign economic, diplomatic, educational, and media agencies; work as tour guides, etc.
Graduates in Vietnamese Studies can pursue postgraduate studies (Master’s, PhD) in Vietnamese Studies or other social science and humanities fields such as Linguistics, Cultural Studies, Vietnamese History, Anthropology, etc.
