EF PROUDLY ORGANIZED ITS 7TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING (ICELT 2024) TITLED ‘GLOCALIZATION AND ELT’

On the 30th – 31st of August, EF’s International Conference on English Language Teaching 2024 (ICELT 2024) titled Glocalization and ELT was held in Rex Hotel Saigon. This year’s conference was on an unprecendented scale with our co-organizer from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) – a highly reputable university with excellent standings in international rankings, attracting nearly 300 scholars, educators, and researchers from many nations, including Poland, Japan, UK, Thailand, Morocco, Philippines, Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Canada, Germany, … ICELT 2024 featured five amazing keynote speakers from the UK, Poland, the USA and Japan, bringing a fresh new perspective on English Language Teaching from other corners of the world.

ICELT 2024 took place over two days with five plenary sessions, a Vietnam-Malaysia symposium and three parallel sessions with dozens of presenters eagerly sharing their knowledge and expertise. At this year’s conference, participants were able to meet, greet, share their teaching experience and research outputs as well as discuss academic issues related to English as a language in general and ELT in particular, especially those related to the impact of globalization and the efforts teachers and learners in glocalizing current trends in ELT.

Another remarkable milestone of ICELT 2024 is that our proceedings will be published internationally. In addition, due to EF’s reputation in the field and its prestige in the academic community, a select number of papers from our conference will be published in a Special Issue of the Science and Technology Development Journal by VNUHCM. The conference also bore witness to the MOU Signing Ceremony between EF and Rex Hotel Saigon – a subsidiary of Saigontourist and our Main Sponsor, opening future opportunities for collaboration in implementing training programmes among other professional activities between the two parties, which will be overseen by EF’s English Resource Center (ERC).
