Announcement of PhD Scholarship Program at National University of Singapore for the 2027-2028 Academic Year

Dear students,
The Faculty would like to inform you about the PhD scholarship program at the National University of Singapore for the 2027-2028 academic year as follows:
1. General Information
On May 14, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Vu Hai Quan, Chancellor of Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM), held a working session with Prof. Tan Eng Chye, President of the National University of Singapore (NUS) to discuss the implementation plan for cooperation contents agreed upon by both parties in the Memorandum of Understanding signed on January 24, 2024.
Following this cooperation, NUS continues to invite VNUHCM to nominate excellent candidates to participate in the PhD program enrollment for the 2027-2028 academic year (expected enrollment in August 2027). In the 2026-2027 academic year admission cycle, 10 graduates from VNUHCM enrolled in NUS PhD programs with full scholarships.
2. Benefits
NUS provides full tuition coverage and a monthly living allowance for 04 years of study at NUS.
3. Eligibility
Students currently studying/staff currently working at VNUHCM.
Note:
- The scholarship is for full-time on-campus programs at NUS (not online);
- The scholarship is not available to individuals who already hold a PhD degree.
4. Application Documents
- Cover letter stating the field the candidate wishes to pursue in the PhD program at NUS;
- Academic Curriculum Vitae (CV);
- Latest transcripts:
+ For candidates who have not started a Master's program: Bachelor's transcript;
+ For candidates who have started or completed a Master's program: both Bachelor's and Master's transcripts.
- Evidence of scientific publications;
- Proof of English proficiency: minimum TOEFL 85 for Internet Based Test (IBT) or IELTS Academic 6.0;
- Research Statement;
- Application form (candidates download and fill in the required information at the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MeUbLrMctwo04bPKISvxUJUtj9o9EDRx/edit?rtpof=true&sd=true );
- Confirmation of the candidate's status as a current student/staff member of the training institution/unit. This is proof to confirm the candidate belongs to the VNUHCM system.
5. Registration Procedure
- Interested students/staff at VNUHCM shall submit their application files directly to the External Relations and Project Development Department, VNUHCM via email: tranhung@vnuhcm.edu.vn before 16:00 on September 16, 2026.

- Candidates must send 01 copy of the application file to the International Relations and Science Management Department via email: era@hcmussh.edu.vn after submitting the files to the External Relations and Project Development Department.
- Candidates nominated to NUS will receive an email (via the registered email address) regarding instructions for registration on the NUS system, expected on September 18, 2026. Nominated candidates must complete the registration instructions on the NUS system before 16:00 on September 23, 2026.
