Welcome Ceremony for the Class of 2026 Freshmen
On the afternoon of September 24, 2026, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City organized the Welcome Ceremony for the 2026–2030 cohort at the General Hall, Linh Xuan campus, welcoming 64 new students to the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies family.
Attending the ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Ngoc Diep – Dean of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies, representatives from the Student Affairs Office, the Faculty Board, lecturers, staff, and many students from various cohorts. The program was an opportunity for freshmen to meet their teachers, get acquainted with the learning environment, and interact with previous generations of students from the Faculty.
Delivering the welcoming speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Ngoc Diep – Dean of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies, shared meaningful messages for their upcoming four-year journey. She encouraged the freshmen to maintain their curiosity, proactive spirit, and open-mindedness; to not be afraid to ask questions, experiment, try new things, and even make mistakes to grow.
With the message "Learn about Vietnam to understand Vietnam – understand yourself – and contribute to creating new values for Vietnam," she emphasized that studying Vietnamese Studies is not about memorizing facts about Vietnam, but about learning how to ask questions, observe social changes, and view familiar things with scientific thinking. Students are encouraged to participate in scientific research, field trips, academic activities, read books, carry out small projects, and boldly engage with their teachers. Because the university is not just a place to receive knowledge, but a place to generate new knowledge, test ideas, and grow.
The ceremony also featured activities such as speeches by freshman representatives and the commendation of outstanding individuals for the 2025-2026 academic year, recognizing their efforts and excellent achievements in learning, research, and extracurricular activities. The program concluded with a meeting between academic advisors and the Class of 2026, marking the first connections on their university journey.
