International Relations student makes her mark at ASEAN academic conference - Congratulations to Nguyen Ngoc Que Anh
From university lecture halls to international academic forums, students of International Relations continuously affirm their mettle, integration capacity, and proactive spirit in contributing their voices to regional issues. One of the faces representing this spirit is Nguyen Ngoc Que Anh - a third-year student of International Relations at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
In October 2026, Que Anh achieved a proud milestone by participating as a lead author and speaker at the 6th ASEAN International Conference on Energy and Environment (6th AICEE) in the Philippines. Her research on fair and inclusive energy transition in the Mekong basin was selected as one of 30 papers to be presented at the conference. Notably, Que Anh was one of two Vietnamese representatives to directly share research at the event, thereby bringing the perspective of a Vietnamese student to the regional academic forum.
Beyond her mark at the 6th AICEE, Que Anh's academic journey has been extended through numerous international exchange and cooperation activities. In 2025, she attended the 20th ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum in Thailand; and in June 2026, she continued to participate as a delegate at the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum. Additionally, Que Anh is the lead of a key student scientific research project at the University, focusing on Vietnam's economic risk prevention strategy in the face of US-China geoeconomic competition.
Behind these achievements lies a journey of great resilience. Having faced spinal disease for over 15 years, undergoing three major surgeries, and encountering less-than-desired results many times, Que Anh has persistently pursued her path of learning and research. It is these challenges that have helped her cultivate perseverance, learn to accept failure, and cherish every opportunity to learn, experience, and grow.
Not only striving to develop herself, Que Anh also wishes to spread positive values to the student community by sharing application experiences, providing feedback on essays, and connecting young people with international learning and exchange opportunities. That is also how she turns her personal experiences into a source of motivation and practical support for the community.
Que Anh's achievement is the joy and pride of the International Relations department. This is not only an individual's mark on the journey of conquering knowledge but also a testament to the academic spirit, critical thinking, research capacity, and integration ability that International Relations students aim for.
With a training orientation closely linked to regional and international issues, the International Relations major always encourages students to proactively access multidisciplinary knowledge, research contemporary issues, develop dialogue capacity, and bring their perspectives to domestic and international academic spaces. Que Anh's journey is one of the vivid proofs of those values.
