Specialization Orientation 2022

On July 11^th, 2022 the Faculty of English Linguistics and Literature (EF) organized a specialization orientation for the soon-to-be EF juniors at Van Khoa auditorium. The event was commenced by Dr. Cao Thi Phuong Dung, Associate Dean, Chair of Department of English Linguistics with a brief introduction of the three specializations, namely the Department of English Linguistics and Language Teaching (DELELT), Department of English Translation and Interpreting (DTI), and Department of American – British Culture & Literature (DABCAL).

After the overview, the Chair of the Department of English Language Teaching, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Phuong, took the stage to introduce DELELT and the promising career path after graduation.

After Dr. Phuong, Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhu Ngoc, Associate Dean, and Chair of the Department of English Translation and Interpreting, brought the department closer to the students with her charismatic presentation. “Whatever you do, do it with passion” – Dr. Ngoc’s message surely left a lasting impression on the participants.

Last but not least, Ms. Trinh Kim Ngan, Department Coordinator painted a stunning picture of DABCAL. However, the piece would not have been completed without the surprise visit from 4 EF alumni, courtesy of the invitation from Dr. Nguyen Dang Nguyen, Dean, Chair of the Department of American – British Culture & Literature. The alumni, Dr. Phan Bao Giang – Associate Dean of Faculty of PR & Communications (UEF), Ms. Le Do Thuy – MC & Editor of Ho Chi Minh City Television, Ms. Le Thi Thanh Hang – Editor of Thanh Nien News, and Mr. Thai Ba Dung – Executive Director of Maxx Communication & Featured Editor of Elle Vietnam, were delighted to greet the current EF-ians and eager to share what they had learned at EF.

Although each had a different career choice, their success stories all began at EF, the nurturing environment that had equipped them with the knowledge, skills, and attitude required to reach their current heights.

The orientation was wrapped up after a lively Q&A session where the students’ concerns were alleviated by EF’s Board of Executives and EF alumni. Hopefully, the students attending the event would have a better view of the three specializations and carefully consider their strengths and weaknesses, their interests as well as abilities to choose the most suitable specialization for their time in the Faculty.
