Admission for the AMI Primary Diploma Course Cohort II

Montessori is a pedagogical method of educating children based on the research of Italian doctor and educator Maria Montessori (1870 - 1952). The Montessori method is recognized for its advanced effectiveness and has been widely implemented around the world for more than 100 years.

The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) founded by Dr. Maria Montessori in 1929 is the leading organization in Montessori education, in association with the United Nations.

AMI coordinates its branches and partner organizations across the globe in the implementation, administration, and monitoring of teacher and assistant training courses, and Montessori research and development courses.

In Vietnam, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-HCM. has been an official partner of AMI since 2012. After the success of the first course, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities continues to collaborate with the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) and the Montessori Training Center Northeast (MTCNE) to organize the AMI Primary Diploma Course - Cohort II from March 2021 to January 2022.

1. Objectives

- Promote the training and application of Montessori methods, creating the basis for integrating Montessori education into primary educational programs in Vietnam;

- Help students design their own effective curriculum and teaching methods suitable for children aged  2.5 to 6 years old following the Montessori primary education philosophies and methods.

2. Course content:

- Stages of child development

- The fundamental philosophies of the Montessori method

- Practical life activities

- Sensorial Area

- Language

- Mathematics

- Geography, History, Biology, Music and Arts

- Montessori instruments and their role in supporting children's development

- Scientific Observation

- Administration

- Practice in a Montessori environment under the supervision of AMI lecturers/teachers

- Observation and internship at Montessori preschools

- Manually make learning tools

- Create lesson plans

Course language: English with Vietnamese interpretation.

Course length: The course is divided into 03 semesters:

- Semester 1: from March 1 to April 29, 2021

- Semester 2: from June 14 to August 27, 2021

- Semester 3: from November 1 to January 14, 2022

Course schedule:

- Monday – Friday: 8:30 – 17:00

- Saturday: 9:00 – 16:00 (two Saturdays/month)

Location: University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM (10-12 Dinh Tien Hoang, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. HCMC).

Lecturer: Ms. Lhamo Pemba - AMI Primary Trainer of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), permanent lecturer at the Montessori Training Center Northeast of the United States with more than 15 years of experience in training assistants and teachers for AMI courses in the US, India, Egypt, Mongolia, Morocco, and Vietnam.

Diploma: An internationally recognized diploma issued by AMI after completion of the course, allowing the holder to teach children aged 2.5-6 in a Montessori classroom anywhere in the world

Application

- Application form;

- Résumé;

- Copy of ID card/Passport;

- Copy of the applicant's highest educational certificate;

- Copies of Montessori certificates (if any);

- Copy of English certificate (if any).

- Application fee: 300,000 VND

(After receiving the application, CIE will contact the student to schedule an interview)

Admission period: From the date of notice until the end of February 8, 2021

Submission format: Submit directly at the Center for International Education or scan the application and send it to CIE at email address: cie.montessori@hcmussh.edu.vn

Tuition fee: Full course fee: 176,000,000 VND/student (including 1-year AMI membership fee)

Tuition fees can be divided into 03 installments:

- 1st installment: 88,500,000 VND

- 2nd installment: 52,500,000 VND

- 3rd installment: 35,000,000 VND

Tuition incentives:

- 1 million VND discount in tuition fees for alumni of AMI Orientation Courses at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and teachers from schools who have provided the observation and practice environment for the AMI Primary Diploma Course Cohort 1 at USSH, deducted from the full tuition fee or deducted from the first installment.

- Discount of 3.5 million VND for students paying the full tuition fee.
