On the morning of August 7, 2023, at Van Khoa Hall, the Center for International Education held a Commencement Ceremony for graduates of cohort 6 of the international joint program Master in Linguistics with TESOL Concentration, offered by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM and Benedictine University, United States

At the Ceremony, from Benedictine University, there were the presences of: Dr. Olga Lambert, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, and Professor Sandra Kies, Program Director; from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM: Dr. Le Hoang Dung - Vice President, together with representatives of the Office of External Relations and Research Affairs, Office of Academic Affairs, Faculty of English Linguistics and Literature, and Center for International Education.
For the opening speech, Dr. Le Hoang Dung - Vice President of the University affirmed: "The leading role of English is indispensable for the country's development and international integration, especially in the modern era. In the near future, while challenges continue to remain, more opportunities will also be opened to you all. I strongly believe that your MA degree in Linguistics with TESOL Concentration will help you excel in English language teaching in Vietnam."

In her Commencement Address, Dr. Olga Lambert - Dean of the College of Liberal Arts - shared: “May you use the knowledge and skills you acquired in our program to promote intercultural understanding and cooperation, respect and appreciation for linguistic and cultural diversity, as well as your colleagues’ and students’ personal and intellectual development."

In her congratulatory speech for the new graduates, Professor Sandra Kies - Program Director said: “No matter what you researched, what is important is that you contributed something practical and substantial to teaching and learning English with special relevance to Vietnam. Your research and study experience will be valuable not only to yourselves as teachers but to others. The wonderful thing that I have experienced about being a teacher is that you touch so many other lives, you inspire others, and you are capable of impacting beyond what you can even imagine."

The ceremony also had many emotional and heart-warming speeches on the training program, Graduate Hà Tiến Thùy Anh expressed her deep gratitude to Professor Kies and Dr. Lambert. “The professors' passion for their work and dedication to educating students has inspired me,” she shared. “Professor Kies and Dr. Lambert challenged me to think critically, push my boundaries, and strive for excellence. Their guidance has made a significant impact on my academic achievements, and I learned so much from them both."

At the ceremony, USSH, VNU-HCM was honored to send Professor Sandra Kies a letter of gratitude from the President, along with flowers and gifts to honor her lasting contributions and complete dedication after more than 7 years of accompanying the University in supporting more than 200 alumni to access the international joint program in Vietnam and receive a Master's degree from the United States.
