On November 1st, 2021, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City (USSH, VNU - HCM), in collaboration with the Alumni Liaison Boards, launched the first tree-planting campaign at Linh Trung campus, Thủ Đức city. This activity, within the framework of “The USSH members build Green University 2021” program, is a stable solution to carry out the Green University program launched in 2019.
Participating in the campaign were Dr. Lê Thị Ngọc Diệp - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngô Thị Phương Lan, President, Dr. Phan Thanh Định, Vice President; Mrs. Huỳnh Quan Thư - Vice Director of Alumni Liaison Boards, etc. and some other representatives. It was conducted complying with the COVID-19 pandemic prevention regulations.
The campaign aimed to protect the environment as well as create a university environment that is nature friendly. 30 Tabebuia Rosea trees would be planted on Nhân văn B2 street, Linh Trung campus, Thủ Đức city in the first stage. “The campaign is conducted thanks to the funds of units and individuals from both in and outside the university. The funds are used to plant trees in the university campus. Trees will be planted in front of the Nhân văn B4 block in the next stage.” - said Mr. Nguyễn Võ Nguyên Anh - Secretary of Alumni Liaison Boards.

“USSH, VNU - HCM is the pioneer in building Green University. Building Green University is not only to protect the environment but also to help USSH members form a green lifestyle. We hope that they will love their university more when they come and see the trees that are planted and taken good care of.” - said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngô Thị Phương Lan, President, emphasizing the aim of forming a green and environmentally friendly lifestyle. On behalf of all students, lecturers and officers, the President expressed her gratitude to all units and individuals for their support throughout this meaningful campaign.

The “USSH members build Green University 2021” program executed by USSH, VNU - HCM and the Alumni Liaison Boards includes activities such as planting trees, giving park benches, creating communal living space, etc. This is a practical solution to carry out the “1 billion trees project” launched by the government, stimulating the awareness change to adapt to a green lifestyle as well as creating a green culture and environment.
