2022 Literary Contest of VNU-HCM Youth “Entrepreneurial Spirits”
On Jul 1, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH, VNU-HCM) launched the 2022 “Literary Contest of VNU-HCM Youth” with the theme “Entrepreneurial Spirits”.
Joining the ceremony were Mr. Trương Hòa Bình - Former Politburo Member, Former Standing Deputy Prime Minister of the Government; Ms. Nguyễn Thị Hoàng Yến - Deputy Head of HCYU Department of Publicity and Education cum External Affairs; Ms. Đặng Thùy Khánh Vân - Head of Department of Publicity and Education at Tertiary Education Division; Assoc Prof Dr Vũ Hải Quân - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Party Committee cum Director of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City, Head of the Contest Committee; Bùi Anh Tấn, Vice Chairman of HCMC Writers’ Association cum Editor-in-Chief of Ho Chi Minh City Art Magazine; Trần Nhà Thụy - Director of Southern branch of Việt Nam Writers’ Association Publishing House.
Members of USSH, VNU-HCM joining the ceremony includes Assoc Prof Dr Ngô Thị Phương Lan - USSH Rector cum Deputy Head of the Contest Committee; Dr Lê Thị Ngọc Điệp - Secretary of the Party Committee cum USSH Council Chair; Dr Phan Thanh Định - USSH Vice-Rector cum Head of the Contest Committee; Dr Lê Hoàng Dũng - USSH Vice-Rector; and many representatives from institutions and universities across HCMC.
Students at all levels are welcomed to participate in the “2022 Literary Contest of VNU-HCM Youth”. The contest is chaired by VNU-HCM and implemented by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. affiliated with HCMC Writers’ Association, Southern Branch, Writers’ Association Publishing House, and HCMC City Arts Magazine.

During his speech, Assoc Prof Dr Vũ Hải Quân underlined some key points, including the vision and mission of VNU-HCM, the spirit of the competition, and how this contest can help spread positive values - such as patriotism, pride, and aspiration - among the younger generations, as well as cultivating the reading culture in Vietnam.
Mr. Trương Hòa Bình - Former Politburo Member, Former Standing Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, presented the contest with an inspirational reading of his own poem.

The theme of this year is “Entreupreneurial Spirits”. The contest aims to discover good literary works with high values and publish them to the public in order to encourage young talented writers. The categories for this year include: short stories, prose and poems. The content can be about individuals’ thoughts, feelings and experiences, as well as depicting the social issues, or aspirations of the youth.
The prizes for each category include: one First Prize worth 30 million VND and a certificate; and prizes for second places, third places and other consolation prizes.
Entries are open from Jul. 1 to Sep. 30, 2022, and the awards will be announced on Nov. 20, 2022 (estimated time). Participants can submit your entries via email at vanhoctre@vnuhcm.edu.vn, via our website https://vanhoctre.vnuhcm.edu.vn/ , or send them directly to Office of Information and Communications, Room 523 at VNU-HCM Administration Building, Linh Trung Ward, Thủ Đức City.
