Tay Ninh: A Journey of Sustainable Tourism

On April 18, the Office of Student Affairs collaborated with Van Khoa Science and Tourism Services Co., Ltd. to organize an experiential study tour for students entitled: “Agriculture and Tourism - A Journey Toward Sustainable Development", which is part of the "Go Glocal USSH" 2026 program.

The program focused on two primary locations: the Nguyen Huu Tho Memorial Site and the Chavi Garden Educational Ecotourism Area, providing multi-dimensional perspectives on integrating socio-cultural values using sustainable economic models.

The first destination was the Nguyen Huu Tho Memorial Site - a profound historical landmark honoring the immense contributions of the late lawyer to the Vietnamese revolutionary cause. Located in Tay Ninh province, the site commemorates the vibrant revolutionary life of the former President of the State, Nguyen Huu Tho. Beyond its role as a symbol for traditional education for younger generations, the memorial serves as a popular tourist attraction, ultimately promoting Vietnam’s national image to international visitors.

During the visit, students explored the distinctive architectural styles of Southern Vietnam, viewed displays of artifacts and documents regarding President Nguyen Huu Tho’s life, and enjoyed the serene, lush green landscape of the premises. More than just a place of worship, the site stands as a cultural and spiritual beacon, preserving the nation’s patriotic traditions.

The journey continued with a series of activities at Chavi Garden - a flagship model for experiential tourism. From a land once abandoned due to heavy alum contamination, Mr. Nguyen Van Hien, Chairman of Chanh Viet (Chavi) Investment and Trading JSC, transformed the area into Vietnam’s largest lime farm, pioneering a path for sustainable economic growth.

Chavi maximizes the value of limes - both fruits and leaves, resulting in a diverse product line including fresh juice, powder, sauce, and essential oils. Moving beyond production, Chavi has intensified trade promotion efforts, successfully exporting to international markets such as Europe, Japan, South Korea, and China.

Students engaged in in-depth agricultural discussions, experienced navigating the region, and studied agricultural models integrated with experiential tourism. These activities helped bridge the gap between theory and practice, while fostering interdisciplinary thinking in socio-economic development.

Concluding the program, the trip provided not only valuable historical insights but also practical perspectives on the nexus of agriculture, tourism, and education. This experience serves as a vital foundation for raising awareness of sustainable practices and motivating future academic research and entrepreneurship. This remains the core value of the “Go Glocal USSH” program: fostering interdisciplinary mindsets, adaptability, and problem-solving skills - essential qualities for the workforce in the era of global integration.
