Spring Volunteer Campaign 2023: Students of International 2+2 Joint Programs give Tet Gifts to the Impoverished and Clean Can Gio beach

On December 23, 2022, the Spring Volunteer Campaign participated by students from international 2+2 joint programs was held in Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City. The campaign was organized in collaboration with the Youth Union of Long Hoa Commune, Can Gio District.

Accompanying the students were Mr. Tran Nam, Deputy Director of the Center for International Education; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuc, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Long Hoa commune, and the Center for International Education staff.

At the gifting ceremony for households with difficult circumstances held at the Cultural House of Dong Hoa Hamlet in Long Hoa Commune, Mr. Tran Nam expressed his appreciation to the Youth Union for organizing the event. "Today's presents are only a small motivational present that we wish to share with all of you during the Tet holiday. This is also the value that We - Vietnamese people often share on Tet holiday: We share what belongs to joy, what belongs to affection, and things that belong to the community spirit" said Mr. Tran Nam during his speech.

In the spirit of helping impoverished families during the Tet holiday, CIE students donated 20 Tet gifts to households who are under preferential policy and families with difficult circumstances in Long Hoa commune. Students also sent their best wishes to the locals. Through this exchange and visit, the students had a better understanding of the hardship and difficulties of the locals.

After the gifting ceremony, students of the 2+2 joint programs joined the members of the Youth Union to clean up garbage at Dong Hoa hamlet beach. The activity aims to raise awareness and promote the preservation of our living environment, reduce waste, and spread the message of protecting the Earth. This is a method of implementing the Green University program organized by the University since 2019.

In every corner of our city are families that are suffering from poverty. After this trip, students have gained a better understanding of important moral values and learned valuable lessons as well as how to love and give more to the community. This trip will be an unforgettable experience for students participating in the 2023 Spring Volunteer Campaign and the locals in Long Hoa commune, Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City.
