The Popularity and Opportunities of the Chinese Language

Chinese is one of the 6 official languages of the United Nations (UN) and one of the most popular languages in the world. Moreover, Chinese is becoming increasingly popular thanks to China's role in the economic, political, and cultural fields.

China's strong economic growth has created a high demand for Chinese in fields such as business and commerce. Companies, international organizations, and individuals all see the value of being able to communicate in Chinese, especially in expanding business opportunities and establishing partnerships. In education, Chinese is being taught by numerous universities.

Multicultural and Quality Universities

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City is the largest research and educational institution in the field of social sciences and humanities in Southern Vietnam. Especially, with its expertise in language training, the University assembles a team of exceptional lecturers and researchers, who graduated from various prestigious universities, with extensive teaching and research experience. The curriculum and teaching methods are constantly updated to help learners adapt quickly to social changes and skillfully apply knowledge in future professions. 

Guangxi Normal University, founded in 1932, was the first university to offer pedagogical education in Guangxi and one of the earliest pedagogical universities in China. The school is located in Guilin City - a world-famous tourist city with a rich culture and national history. The Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Language at Guangxi Normal University is a popular course, attracting a large number of international students every year.

Studying abroad with modest tuition fees

The International 2+2 Joint program in Chinese Language is a prestigious and high-quality training program. In this course, students will spend the first two years studying at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM in District 1, and continue their last two years at Guangxi University of Education, China. 

This not only allows students to experience an international learning environment right in their home country but also have the opportunity to study and live in China - where Chinese is used every day. In particular, the program has modest tuition fees, students can study abroad with tuition fees equivalent to studying in Vietnam. 

State-of-the-art teaching methods

Guangxi Normal University applies modern and advanced teaching methods, intending to create a practical and interactive learning environment. High-quality teaching staff, consisting of many professors and PhDs with long-standing teaching and research experience. The lecturers here not only impart knowledge but also encourage students to participate in the learning process, thereby developing their reasoning and problem-solving abilities.

The program provides students with in-depth learning of the Chinese language, culture, history, and economy. Students also have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities, research projects, and internships to develop practical skills and prepare for a career after graduation.

At the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM, students will learn advanced language skills such as: Integrated Chinese, Chinese Reading - Writing, Chinese Listening - Speaking, and Contemporary Chinese Rhetoric with a total of 62 credits. The program lecturers are experts with long-standing teaching experience and enthusiasm for students. 

When transferring, students will study at the College of International Culture and Education of Guangxi Normal University. The institution attracts students and lecturers from all over the world, creating a multicultural learning environment that expands students' cultural understanding and international communication skills.

Promising Career Opportunities

With good language skills and an understanding of Chinese culture and society, a Bachelor in Chinese Language will have the professional qualifications,  qualities and skills to work in various fields, and professions in a society that values the Chinese language and culture. For example, graduates can work in foreign organizations, news agencies – press, universities and other pedagogical environments, and also in enterprises with diverse career positions such as diplomatic specialist, foreign affairs specialist, lecturer, teacher, translator - interpreter…

In 2023, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM admits 90 students for the 2+2 Chinese Language program with the following admission methods: 
- Method 1: Admission based on the results of the 2023 National High school Graduation exam, including the following blocks: D01, D04, D14, D15, D83, D95

- Method 2: Admission based on the results of the 2023 Competency Assessment Exam organized by VNU-HCM.

- Method 3: Admission is based on the High school Graduation exam scores of international high school programs.

- Method 4: Priority admission in accordance with VNU-HCM's Regulations.

- Method 5: Admission based on high school academic transcripst of D01, D04, D14, D15, D83, D95 blocks with any international language certificates.

In addition, students studying at universities throughout the country can also transfer their educational records to this program.

Tuition fee: 
- At the University of Social Sciences and Humanities: ~49.5 million VND/year (including 4 semesters)
- At Guangxi Normal University, China: 13,000 Yuan/year 
Note: Tuition fee at Guangxi Normal University, China includes the fees of 4-person dormitory rooms.
