2023-2024 Opening Ceremony: Spreading Ceaselessly USSH-ers’ Good Cultural Values
On September 21st, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University of HCMC (USSH, VNU-HCM) held the opening ceremony for the 2023-2024 academic year at Thủ Đức campus.
Participating in the ceremony were representatives of central and local authorities, leaders of VNU-HCM, partners, diplomatic agencies in HCMC, the members of VNU-HCM, USSH lecturers, and students.

Spreading USSH-ers’ values: “Creativity - Leadership - Responsibility”
Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngô Thị Phương Lan - President - offered her congratulations to over 4000 new students. She also highlighted the significant achievements of USSH in training, scientific research, and community service despite the challenges of university autonomy in the past academic year.

At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngô Thị Phương Lan encouraged the students to strive constantly for the spread of USSH-ers’ good cultural values, including “Creativity - Leadership - Responsibility”.
Letting the young generation improve themselves
Attending the ceremony, comrade Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, praised and highly appreciated the achievements of USSH in the past 67 years in general and in the 2022-2023 academic year in particular.
Besides, he mentioned the significance of self-study and research in his speech: “Learning at university not merely learns from lectures, but also, more importantly, is students’ autonomy, confidence, and positivity in exploring and applying knowledge to solve practical problems.”

Moreover, comrade Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa sent meaningful messages to students. According to him, university students need to be shining examples of ethics, lifestyle, and should demonstrate sense of responsibility for other students to follow. Also, students should live with ideals, ambitions, and aspirations to improve themselves.
Memorable moments
With the aim of building a green university, USSH representatives and delegates joined a tree planting activity at the university campus. This activity aims to promote a green lifestyle and spread a green spirit to students.
Furthermore, in order to praise the learning spirit of students, representatives of USSH's partners and businesses awarded study promotion scholarships to the students with excellent academic performance.
In addition, singer Tạ Quang Thắng gave a great performance with the song “Sống như những đóa hoa” at the ceremony. He also expressed his gratitude for students’ welcome and encouragement.
