Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa’s speech with USSH students
On Sep 21, Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa - Secretary of the Party, Head of the Central Propaganda Department delivered his speech at the Opening ceremony for the school year 2023-2024 at USSH, VNU-HCM. In his speech, he expressed great appreciation for the university’s achievements and contributions over the past 67 years.
Renovation is the key
In addition, he also highlighted that the university continues taking on the leading role in training and research in social sciences and humanities. “The growth of social sciences is strongly associated with socio-economic development. We must foster creativity, a sense of responsibility, and respect for diversity while incorporating natural sciences and social sciences into our larger scheme for socio-economic development”, he quoted a statement from the 13th Party Congress.
He further suggested that starting this school year, the University should pursue the following objectives: complete the given tasks and implement resolutions for developing education, training, and technology as stated in the 13th Party Congress; continue to enhance the quality and efficiency of training for leading majors; promote scientific research activities, global cooperation, and social integration with other universities; build a positive environment for student’s learning and research; and improve the quality of lecturers and university staff.

Students are the foundation of our future
He stated that every student should be a role model for their juniors by living with ethics and responsibility. He also encouraged students to pursue their passion, ideals, and ambitions while still youthful and brimming with enthusiasm.
Finally, Mr Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa reinforced the significance of universities as the perfect environment to cultivate holistic citizens and shape their values and morals. Thus, he advised students to make use of the abundant opportunities for studies and research during their years at university.
