Online meeting of member universities of the IACSC network on organizing the 2024 conference at the National University of the Philippines and short-term courses for students of member universities

On March 11, 2024, an online meeting of the IACSC network was held, chaired by Yokohama City University, with the participation of member universities including YCU University, Japan, USM University, Malaysia, UP University of the Philippines, UNHASS University Indonesia, Thammasat University, Thailand and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Ho Chi Minh City. The university representatives included the Specialist of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Science Management - MSc. Doan Duyen Anh and the representative of the Faculty of Urban Studies - lecturer MSc. Hoang Bao Ngoc, who also attended and contributed to the annual activities of the network.

The content of the online meeting of the IACSC network 2024 includes the following:

1. Organizing an international conference directly at the National University of the Philippines. The expected time of organization is in the 3rd or 4th week of August. The expected theme for 2024 is to develop sustainable and resilient future cities through research and innovations, research topics revolve around issues of planning, public health, environment, food, etc.

2. Organize 2 short-term courses SUDP (Sustainable Urban Development) and IUPW (Urban Planning Practice) for students of member schools:

- This year's SUDP course focuses on the following issues: agriculture, food nutrition, towards healthy cities and sustainable development in the future. Students will listen to lectures and visit real-life issues related to agriculture and food that the locality needs to solve. Access to the locality will help students understand more about the role of policy and groups working in society.

- The IUPW course helps students practice urban re-planning to solve resettlement problems, or degraded residential areas and housing that the locality is facing.

The duration of the 2 courses is expected to last from 4-5 days in the field urban area selected by UP University, under the guidance of experts, lecturers from UP University and professors from YCU, Japan.

Other contents related to the work of improving and maintaining the network were also discussed and deliberated, such as: completing the membership fee in 2024, announcing the host of the conference next year as UNHAS Indonesia University, discussing and contributing ideas on the schedule of 02 courses for students to be more effective. Details of each activity will always be updated via email from representatives of member schools. Students and lecturers interested in the network can contact the Department of Science and Technology Management for more necessary information.
