On the morning of March 21, 2024, the Faculty of Library and Information Science, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City organised a thematic report session for postgraduate students (postgrads) with the participation of lecturers, postgrads and students of the Faculty.
A thematic report is a compulsory academic activity of postgrads to monitor the implementation progress and improve the quality of theses, promote academic exchange between lecturers and postgrads, as well as between postgrads.

In the report, two postgrads presented content related to the topic of the thesis. Details are as follows:
Postgrad Nguyen Thi Thu Huong reports on "Assessment of digital competence of library staff at universities in Ho Chi Minh City". Based on understanding the existing digital literacy frameworks, components, and factors affecting digital literacy, students have developed a survey to analyze and evaluate the digital literacy of people working in information and library science in university libraries in Vietnam's development context.

Discussing with participants, lecturers asked many questions related to the basis of survey object selection to ensure the representativeness and reliability of the research.

Comments on the digital literacy survey for information workers – libraries of students, Dr. Ninh Thi Kim Thoa said that "Scales need to be determined appropriately and need convincing and more specific explanations about the use of multiple scales in a study".

In the same day's reporting session,Postgrad Tran Thanh Mai reported on "Overview of scientific research support services of the university library". The content of the report refers to the ability to develop many different types of information services suitable for each stage of the research process. In addition, students also give an overview of the services for scientific research being provided by a number of university libraries in Vietnam such as the University of Science Library, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City Library, Fulbright University Library, etc. Based on practical observations and research, participants found that these services are currently being implemented at a basic level and the type of services is not diversified, as well as not fully meeting the needs of researchers.

With the aim of helping students have a better orientation to implement the thesis, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Huyen and the attending lecturers gave many suggestions for the implementation of the research overview, identification and selection of research models suitable for the purpose and research tasks.

The academic session helped postgrads have a more multidimensional view of the research topic of the thesis. In addition, lecturers are also given opportunities to exchange and share knowledge and research experience. With the positive results that the thematic report brings, this academic activity will constantly improve the quality with a variety of diverse and urgent reporting topics in the field of Information and Library Science.
