Internship 1 is a subject of the Department of Socio-Economics and Urban Culture for first-year students of the Faculty of Urban Studies with the theme "Urban Formation Process" with the aim of providing students with necessary and general knowledge of the major in the fields of history, culture, architecture, planning, urban infrastructure.
The first orientation session took place on May 21, 2024 in room C2-01, Linh Trung campus. Lecturers in the Department met with DTH16 students to guide them on the research topic, history of the central area of Ho Chi Minh City, how to write a report, how to cite, anti-plagiarism regulations, the role of observation and photography techniques, announcement of travel schedule and some reminders about manners and attitudes for the official internship day.

Lecturers of the Department guide students on the content of Internship 1
The official internship took place on May 28, 2024 with a route in the center of District 1. The delegation departed to visit historical and cultural works of Ho Chi Minh City such as Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, Independence Palace. Then the delegation moved to the Department of Planning and Architecture of Ho Chi Minh City to listen to a report on the planning of Ho Chi Minh City. This is also a prestigious address where every year the Faculty of Urban Studies brings students to study and research. The internship delegation was welcomed by Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Head of the General Planning Management Department; Mr. Huynh Hung Kiet - Deputy Head of the General Planning Management Department; Mr. Huynh Xuan Thu - Deputy Head of the Planning Implementation and Legal Department; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Que Duong - Deputy Chief of Office of the Department. The Department's staff shared useful information about the general planning of Ho Chi Minh City to 2040, with a vision to 2060, emphasizing key projects of Ho Chi Minh City. The Department of Planning and Architecture also received nearly 30 questions from students related to social housing, heritage conservation, urban connectivity, infrastructure overload, metro, waterway traffic, environmental pollution, socio-economic policies, etc. This shows that although Urban Studies students are only in their first year, they have profound thinking and great interest in their major. DTH16 students received a lot of value when listening to the report at the Department.

Next, the internship group moved from the Department of Planning and Investment to Bach Dang wharf to study a typical form of public transport in Ho Chi Minh City, which is the river bus. The group departed to Binh An wharf, where students had the opportunity to study at Binh An wharf, then moved back to Bach Dang wharf. With the river bus, students had the opportunity to learn more about the operation and planning of the wharfs, etc., thereby forming research ideas and drawing their own conclusions about Ho Chi Minh City's traffic planning.

Internship Group 1 ended successfully. Students learned a lot of useful knowledge, both theoretical and practical, to expand their specialized knowledge and have a basic understanding of the training program's objectives.
