ECONOMIC GEOGRAPHY - REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Geography class K42 Economics - Regional Development had a field trip to Ho Chi Minh City - Nha Trang - Da Lat, from June 24 to June 28, 2024, with exciting and valuable experiential activities.
The internship was organized to create opportunities for students to apply their knowledge into practice, learn about the management, operation and operation processes of local businesses, and combine geography into research and socio-economic development of the region.
In addition to students from the Geography class K42 Economics - Regional Development, the field trip included Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Chau and MSc. Nguyen Thi Oanh - academic advisor and course instructor.

The trip took place over 5 days with famous sightseeing spots. In Nha Trang, students had the opportunity to observe the salt-making area and the lives of salt workers in Ca Na Salt Village. In addition, students also learned about marine life and the ocean habitat through reports at the Institute of Oceanography, research on the formation and exploitation of agarwood, and experience some agarwood products at the Hoang Tram Agarwood Cultural Reserve. Finally, students visited and admired the majestic natural scenery at Hon Chong before moving to Da Lat.

In Da Lat, in the chilly air of the showers, the Geography Class K42 Economics - Regional Development visited Vinh Tien Wine Cellar, learned about the production process of some of the company's outstanding products, and experienced the services here. In addition, students also had the opportunity to observe the hydroponic vegetable growing model and listen to reports on the production process and operations of Truong Phuc Farm Company Limited (Truong Phuc Farm). On the same day, students had the opportunity to learn and observe the coffee production process, experience some products and services, and expand their knowledge about Arabica coffee beans and the coffee culture imbued with Vietnamese identity at La Viet Coffee. Finally, the students visited the Dalat Cathedral (Chicken Church), concluding their journey in Dalat and the 5-day, 4-night internship of the Geography class K42 Economics - Regional Development. Geography K42 Economics - Regional Development students participated in a survey and experienced the service at Vinh Tien Wine Cellar (Da Lat).

The specialized internship is not only a time for students to have the opportunity to observe and experience reality and apply the knowledge they have learned but also an opportunity for students to accumulate, consolidate and develop soft skills such as organizing and managing activities, research and practical observation; ability to work in groups as well as collective activities;…. The trip was also an opportunity for the Geography class K42 Economics - Regional Development to connect, share memorable moments, and save beautiful memories of their university journey at the Faculty of Geography, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University.
