The urbanization process is creating many rules such as traffic rules, environmental pollution, housing shortage and social inequality. In that context, the need for experts in the field of Market Studies becomes extremely necessary and important, helping to solve the above problems and create conditions for the strong development of cities.
According to Dr. Le Thanh Hoa, Head of the Department of Urban Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Urban Studies not only plays an important role but also has great potential in the future configuration of the city. Urban Studies provides in-depth knowledge of urban structure, operation and development, helping experts analyze and solve problems related to urban design and change. To help students effectively apply knowledge into practice, Dr. Le Thanh Hoa emphasized that there needs to be a focus on training to maximize the strengths of the Urban Studies major. In addition to research activities, students will gain practical experience and participate directly in urban planning and development projects. Some courses also provide opportunities for field visits and practical observations, helping students gain a deeper and more realistic view of urban issues and practice problem-solving skills.

In order for students to grasp the latest trends, experts, architects, and experienced urban managers are often invited to teach and share practical knowledge, helping students have a clearer orientation about their future jobs. Every year, the Urban Studies Department organizes seminars, admissions fairs, and career counseling sessions to provide detailed information about the training program, career opportunities, and skills that students will be equipped with. This is also an opportunity for candidates and parents to directly meet lecturers, current students, and alumni to better understand the major and future development opportunities.
Bachelor of Urban Studies is capable of solving many practical problems: Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Thanh (former student of Urban Studies), currently a specialist in the Urban Management Department of the People's Committee of District 5, Ho Chi Minh City, said: With the current trend of social development, this will be an attractive major with many diverse job opportunities, students after graduation can work in many different environments. Sharing about the learning process, Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Thanh said that Urban Studies is not too heavy on technical knowledge like the Architecture major.
