On August 15-16, in Da Nang city, the Young Energy Summit 2024 took place in a bustling atmosphere, gathering more than 100 young people from the "Youth Initiative - Energy Transition" program (Green Youth Labs) nationwide. This is an important event, organized by the Center for Living and Learning for the Environment and Community (Live&Learn), the Research Center for Adaptive Capacity Building (CAB), and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Vietnam (FES). The program aims to enhance the voice and action of young people in the process of a just energy transition in Vietnam, with the support of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and the German Ministry for Economics and Climate Action (BMWK).
The conference attracted the participation of international delegates, along with more than 70 representatives from central agencies, non-governmental organizations, enterprises, and universities. In particular, thanks to the sponsorship of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, lecturers and students from the Faculty of Urban Studies had the opportunity to attend and contribute their professional perspectives on urban issues in the context of energy transition.

Architect Vu Ngoc Tuan and 5 outstanding students of the DTH14 course including: Nguyen Thi Ngoc Han, Nguyen Hoang Ngoc Thanh, Tran Thai Ngoc Phu, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha and Trinh Nguyen Tam Phuc.

The event began with a welcome speech from Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phuc, Vice President of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Da Nang, followed by a presentation by Mr. Fabian Hartjes, Second Secretary in charge of Economics and Climate Diplomacy of the German Embassy in Vietnam. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy also gave an insightful presentation on "Energy Transition in the Face of Climate Change Challenges - Why Do We Need to Act?", opening the way to stir up the thoughts of the attendees.
The program focused on three main topics:
- Energy Saving and Efficient Use
- The Role of Renewable Energy in Energy Transition
- Green Transition - Energy Transition

Trong hai ngày hội nghị, các bạn trẻ đã cùng nhau thảo luận, chia sẻ và học hỏi về các vấn đề quan trọng như tiết kiệm năng lượng, vai trò của năng lượng tái tạo, và chuyển dịch xanh trong giao thông. Các phiên thảo luận nhóm mang lại cơ hội cho thanh niên và các đại biểu cùng nhau trao đổi ý kiến, nâng cao nhận thức và kiến thức về chuyển dịch năng lượng.

During the two-day conference, young people discussed, shared and learned about important issues such as energy saving, the role of renewable energy, and green transition in transportation. Group discussions provided opportunities for young people and delegates to exchange ideas, raise awareness and knowledge about energy transition.

Despite the differences in language and culture, that does not prevent the spirit of learning and sharing among young people. This diversity has enriched personal experiences, affirming that young people can play an important role in the energy transition and environmental protection.
The Young Energy Summit 2024, with the support of international organizations and agencies, was a great success in creating a forum where the voices of young people are truly heard and their spirit is spread. Hopefully in the future there will be more events like this to continue to promote a strong, determined and responsible young generation on the path of energy transition in Vietnam in particular and around the world in general.
