1. Description of the field of study

International Relations is a field of study within political science that is interdisciplinary in nature, systematically researching political, economic, cultural, etc., relations between governments of nations, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations around the world. Students pursuing this major will grasp the origins, historical essence, geography, religion, culture, etc., of the relationships between entities in international relations.

2. Career opportunities

The International Relations major provides students with a solid foundation of social science knowledge across various fields, along with useful skills and professional expertise. In addition to basic knowledge (about the history, geography, and socio-culture of different countries), students majoring in International Relations are also equipped with theories and specialized approaches to explain, analyze, and evaluate the contents and issues of international politics. Upon graduation, students will achieve a certain level of understanding of global issues and contemporary international relations in the fields of politics - diplomacy, international economics, international law, while also ensuring they reach a level of specialized English proficiency sufficient for working in an international environment.

In addition to basic skills such as writing, presentation, proficiency in using information and communication technology tools, and independent working skills, students are also trained in leadership, planning, and time management; effective communication and collaboration skills to achieve common goals through teamwork; and gradually perfecting the basic qualities of a Global Citizen such as community service awareness, legal compliance, and the qualities of being confident, independent, pioneering, and integrated. From there, students will have many future career opportunities in the field of diplomacy and foreign affairs in diplomatic agencies, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and the foreign affairs departments of transnational and multinational corporations/companies...

However, students should note that to perform well in jobs after graduation and to remain steady in their careers, it requires in-depth study, continuous improvement, and constant accumulation of work experience. Graduating with a Bachelor's degree in International Relations only ensures that students have grasped the methodology and basic knowledge of the field, as well as the necessary professional skills and supplementary tools for future work.

It is necessary to clearly distinguish that International Relations is the study of cross-border interactions between entities in international relations.

The Bachelor's degree in International Relations from the Faculty of International Relations - University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNUHCM is currently not a comprehensive training program for students who want to research broadly and deeply into all international issues or other countries. In reality, no single unit can provide a training program that is both systematic and in-depth on all such issues.

Graduates of the International Relations major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNUHCM have many options to continue pursuing international fields or other countries that they are interested in, such as:

• Social science majors with international components: economics, geography, history, or political science;
• Regional Studies majors such as: the United States, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East;
• Majors in the fields of foreign affairs, diplomacy, and communication;
• Foreign language majors;
• Majors that have a minor in one of the above fields;

3. Graduation requirements

- Minimum accumulated credits: 124 credits

- Mandatory certificates:

• Physical Education
• National Defense Education
• Informatics: General Informatics Certificate or Basic Information Technology Application Certificate.
• Foreign language: Submit English certificates meeting the following standards (or other equivalent English certificates):
