“Semester At SEA” is an NGO that provides students from universities across the United States with a 105-day trip to 11 countries. There are about 600 students on board, traveling with professors from Colorado State University, combining tourism and learning on board. When the ship docks at each country, students will participate in practical courses instructed by professors.
Notably, the ship docked at Saigon port from November 30, 2024 to December 5, 2024. Recently, on December 5, 2024, Dr. Le Thi Mai Lien (Dean of the Faculty), MSc. Le Dao Anh Khuong (International Cooperation) and MSc. Lam Hoang Duc (Lecturer), from Psychology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City shared some important contents around the topic "Wellness Practices/ Treatment of Mental Illness" and emphasized the role of public awareness of mental health in Vietnam. In addition, she introduced to international friends the programs of "Mental Health Week" organized by the Faculty of Psychology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City, to spread the message of improving understanding and taking care of one's mental health. In addition, CPAR collaborated with SSS with the participation of 10 students, discussing topics related to mental health in Vietnam:
1. How Mindfulness has integrated into wellness practices in Vietnam (Pham Quynh Anh - Nguyen Kieu My Phuong)
2. Social stigma against mental disorders in Vietnam (Nguyen Ha Thanh Truc - Nguyen Xuan Phuong)
3. Addiction issues and available support/treatment in Vietnam (Vu Tu Anh - Huynh Hai Thanh Hien)
4. Pediatric Neuropsychological Assessment with Vietnamese Children (Pham Thi Phuong Nhi - Tran Quynh Nguyen)
5. Recognition for the Psychology profession in Vietnam: Occupational Codes and Licensure (Le Thi Minh Thuan - Luong Hong An)
We believe that this is a valuable opportunity for students at home and abroad to discuss together, present new perspectives, thereby creating for themselves a multi-dimensional perspective on the discussed issue.
