International Seminar: Donald Trump's Policy in the Asia-Pacific and the Future of US-Japan Relations

The return of President Donald Trump to the White House continues to attract global attention, especially regarding his moves in the Asia-Pacific region. With his "America First" policy, the Trump administration has taken strategic steps to reshape relations with key partners, including Japan, a crucial US ally in this region. Given these developments, Asia-Pacific nations (including Vietnam) need to adjust their policies in a timely manner to respond to the unpredictable decisions of this president.

To deeply analyze the foreign policy of the Donald Trump administration in the Asia-Pacific, specifically US-Japan relations, while assessing the impacts on Vietnam, the Faculty of International Relations (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City) in collaboration with the Japan Foundation is organizing the international seminar "The United States under the Donald Trump Administration and the Future of US-Japan Relations."

The event will focus on discussing the political landscape of the Asia-Pacific region, the impact of US-Japan relations on the regional security order, as well as the effects on Vietnam. Additionally, the seminar will provide in-depth perspectives on contemporary international political issues in the Indo-Pacific region and the role of bilateral US-Vietnam relations in a changing geopolitical context.

The seminar is honored to welcome Prof. Kiichi Fujiwara – a leading expert in international politics, comparative politics, and Southeast Asian studies, currently working at the Institute for Advanced Studies, Chiba University and Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo. With extensive research experience, Prof. Fujiwara will provide sharp analyses on the prospects of US-Japan relations, Tokyo's strategic adjustments in the new context, as well as the responses of countries in the region to the Trump administration's policies.

Furthermore, the event will feature representatives from the Consulate General of Japan, representatives from the Japan Foundation, along with experts and lecturers from the Faculty of International Relations, the Faculty of History, and the Faculty of Japanese Studies.
