One Asia Foundation awards scholarships to Oriental Studies students and Asian Studies graduate students participating in the new Asian community class

(Oriental Studies) At 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 26, 2014, in room C.103, the President of the One Asia Foundation (OAF) awarded scholarships to 20 students and graduate students participating in the “Understanding the New Asian Community” class.

The thematic class “Understanding the New Asian Community” is a special course of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, implemented under the sponsorship of the One Asia Foundation. With this sponsorship, the Faculty of Oriental Studies had the opportunity to invite 15 leading domestic and international experts in all fields to help Oriental Studies students and Asian Studies graduate students gain a clearer vision of a new Asian community. They will have the opportunity to learn about the difficulties, advantages, as well as the opportunities and challenges of countries in the region, especially Vietnam, in the process of moving towards a new height on the regional as well as the global stage in today’s era of globalization. At the same time, this series of 15 thematic lectures will help them better realize their roles and tasks in that process.

The 20 students and graduate students who received scholarships in this round are those who demonstrated active participation in the class and absorbed the lessons well. This scholarship is a very well-deserved reward for them.

The ceremony took place in a solemn yet warm atmosphere due to the messages from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen and Mr. Sato Yoji, President of the One Asia Foundation, to all students of the class. Following this, representing the students of this class, Nguyen Thi Hoang Yen expressed her thoughts and gratitude to the OAF for providing everyone in the class with the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and further enhance their understanding.

Immediately after, to thank the OAF for creating this second opportunity for Faculty of Oriental Studies students and Asian Studies graduate students to reach new heights of knowledge, Dr. Ho Minh Quang, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, presented a commemorative gift to Mr. Sato Yoji.
