On the morning of December 29, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (USSH, VNU-HCM) held the launch ceremony for the 2025 Spring Volunteer Campaign and initiated the 2024 Green Action Day at its Thu Duc campus.
The event was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Thị Ngọc Điệp, Party Secretary and Chairwoman of the University Council; Dr. Phan Thanh Định, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice Rector; Mr. Nguyễn Huỳnh Minh Phúc, Secretary of the Youth Union; Ms. Nguyễn Cẩm Tú, Member of the Standing Committee of the Youth Union, Vice President of the Student Association, and Commander of the Campaign, along with more than 1,000 volunteers from 27 teams participating in the Spring Volunteer Campaign.
In his speech, Dr. Phan Thanh Định emphasized that the campaign is both a responsibility and a source of pride for students. He stated, "It is wonderful to end the old year and begin the new one with such a meaningful activity. Through volunteering, we not only contribute to society but also enrich ourselves." He expressed hope that the campaign would achieve great success and spread positive values to the community.

As part of the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Thị Ngọc Điệp and Mr. Nguyễn Huỳnh Minh Phúc performed the symbolic act of presenting Vietnamese checkered scarves to the volunteers. Phạm Sang Sang, a veteran volunteer and leader of the Social Work Faculty team, shared her pride in contributing to a meaningful cause, bringing a warm and fulfilling Lunar New Year to communities in need.

This year, the campaign's key activities will take place in Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of Bình Phước, Long An, Đồng Tháp, Bến Tre, and Tây Ninh. The volunteers are organized into 27 teams representing various faculties, faculty-affiliated clubs, and university-affiliated clubs.

Following the ceremony, with the approval of the Party Committee and University Board, the Student Association launched the 2024 Green Action Day as part of the Green University Initiative. Volunteers were divided into nine groups to clean different areas of the campus, including Quảng trường Sáng Tạo street, self-study zones, student activity spaces, and Ánh Dương Lake. This initiative reinforces students' role in promoting environmental protection and building a more sustainable society.

Originating in 2005 as a student-led movement at USSH, the Spring Volunteer Campaign has grown into one of the city's largest student volunteer initiatives, attracting thousands of participants annually.
Aligned with Resolution No. 26-NQ/ĐU of the Party Committee on building a Green University, the Green Action Day aims to create a cleaner, greener learning environment, fostering a sustainable and eco-friendly campus for students.
