
On Jan 15, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH, VNU-HCM) hosted "Growth Dialogue" 2024-2025 in Thu Duc campus. This event allowed the university and students to discuss concerns on academics, extracurricular activities, and infrastructure.
During the discussion, the university listened to students’ concerns, many of which revolved around the need to keep the curricula up-to-date. Professor Dr. Ngô Thị Phương Lan, USSH, VNU-HCM’s principal, acknowledged the feedback but highlighted that the university has been collaborating with international organizations to enhance academic resources used in the curriculum.

Furthermore, there were concerns over class schedules and internships. In response, the Academic Affairs Office stated they would make necessary adjustments to help students gain more hands-on work experience. Meanwhile, the Student Affairs Office provided details on scholarships and financial aid. Finally, plans to upgrade the library and expand digital resources through collaborations with international organizations were announced during the discussion.

The discussion with department leaders attracted significant interest from students. Those from the Communication and Journalism Department expressed that they would like to have more digital media courses, which may help them meet industry demands. In response, Pham Duy Phuc - a lecturer at this faculty - confirmed that the department is actively developing plans to incorporate these subjects into the curriculum.
Students from English Linguistics and Literature requested specialized workshops, while History students proposed applying historical studies to cultural industries. Other departments, including Oriental Studies, Geography, and Philosophy, received constructive feedback on their curriculum, extracurricular activities, and infrastructure. Faculty leaders pledged to review and implement necessary changes to better accommodate student needs.
