Signing Ceremony for Training Cooperation: A Breakthrough in Urban Management Training
To develop a highly skilled workforce with international qualifications—thus creating a competitive edge for HCMC, Vietnam—the municipal government hosted a conference on Dec 12. The event announced research findings from key components (1, 3, 5, and 8) of the comprehensive international workforce training project (spanning 8 disciplines) and the shared university initiative.
The conference focused on training undergraduates and postgraduates to meet international standards. To date, the Urban Management training project by USSH, VNU-HCM, along with 7 other project components, has been approved and contracted. Notably, the total budget for these components amounts to 8.3 billion VND.
During the conference, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between universities and enterprises. Attending the signing ceremony were Prof. Dr. Ngô Thị Phương Lan - President of USSH, VNU-HCM, Ms. Lưu Thị Thanh Mẫu - Vice President of the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association cum CEO of Phúc Khang Investment & Construction Corporation, and Mr. Angus Liew Bing Fooi - Chairman of Gamuda Land Vietnam.
Accordingly, USSH, VNU-HCM will integrate Urban Management as a specialized discipline, recruit experienced lecturers, and organize short-term overseas study programs for top students. Notably, senior students will have internship opportunities at international enterprises.
Meanwhile, Phúc Khang Corporation and Gamuda Land Vietnam committed to providing modern training environments and industry exposure, allowing students to learn from experts and develop essential skills to meet the global labor market demands.
Mr. Phan Văn Mãi, Chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee, emphasized the role of training a high-quality workforce amidst global challenges. He highlighted that such initiatives are key to enhancing competitiveness and ensuring sustainable economic growth for HCMC.
Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vũ Hải Quân, President of VNU, HCM, reaffirmed the pioneering role of universities in implementing innovative training programs that bridge the gap between theory and practice. He emphasized VNU-HCM’s commitment to supporting the city's training projects, particularly in technology, urban management, and social sciences.
This event marks a significant step in advancing education quality through internationally recognized programs while fostering a highly skilled workforce, thereby contributing to HCMC’s sustainable growth. This partnership offers students exceptional learning, training, and career opportunities, equipping them to succeed in the global workforce.
