USSH VNUHCM Connection and Compassion Day Spreads Community Spirit
On March 25, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (USSH VNUHCM) organized the USSH VNUHCM Connection and Compassion Day at its Thu Duc Campus.
The event, hosted by the university’s Women Intellectuals Chapter in collaboration with both internal departments and external partners, aimed to support students with essential goods while promoting a spirit of generosity through a variety of meaningful activities.
Representing the university were Prof. Dr. Ngô Thị Phương Lan, President of USSH and Head of the Women Intellectuals Chapter, who also served as Head of the Organizing Committee; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Thị Ngọc Điệp, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the University Council, Deputy Head of the Chapter; along with members of the Women Intellectuals Chapter, staff from various university units, and a large number of students.
Also in attendance were representatives from Candaransi Pagoda, Chợ Rẫy Hospital’s Blood Transfusion Center, Bookas Joint Stock Company, AB Lê Thành Group, Tú Ka Wa Group, and nearly 20 other organizations and individuals who supported the event by offering services and donations.

In her opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Ngô Thị Phương Lan expressed her heartfelt thanks to the sponsors and partners who supported the university in making the event a reality. She emphasized that beyond the material support, the event contributed to spreading core values of compassion and social responsibility.
“Our partners, stakeholders, faculty, and even alumni have always shown great care for the physical and emotional well-being of USSH students. Through this event, we hope students will continue to connect and spread meaningful values through love and generosity,” she shared.

At the event, Dr. Lâm Mỹ Hạnh from the Hematology Department at Chợ Rẫy Hospital spoke about the importance and humanitarian value of voluntary platelet donation. “We have medicine, but blood is irreplaceable. The demand for transfusions, especially platelets, remains high—particularly for severely injured patients. Donating platelets not only saves lives but also brings positive energy and reflects a spirit of sharing within the community,” she emphasized. Dr. Hạnh encouraged students to take part and support the message: “A drop of blood can bring a life back to hope.”

During the event, the USSH Canteen served over 2,000 portions of sticky rice and herbal drinks to students. At the USSH Sharing Booths, partners and sponsors provided a wide range of essentials—from instant noodles, fresh milk, and vegetables to school supplies and personal items. All donated products were carefully selected to ensure quality and long-term benefits for students.

Other highlights included a community service booth providing platelet donation registration hosted by Chợ Rẫy Hospital, free Lecofe coffee, complimentary dental check-ups hosted by AB La Thanh Group, free audiobooks and book donations from Bookas, and hairstyling services provided by Tú Ka Wa Group.

Beyond student support, the event also raised awareness of environmental protection, encouraging reduced plastic usage and promoting the use of reusable bags—conveying the Green University message at USSH and reinforcing youth commitment to social responsibility.

Đặng Anh Hùng, a student from Class QH19-21, Faculty of International Relations, discovered the event through the University’s Facebook page. He shared: “I’m really impressed with the USSH Connection and Compassion Day. Everything here is so practical—from the food to the essential goods. The whole space feels like a mini fair, where students receive so much support from faculty and partners.”

Ngô Bảo Châu, a student from Class K30, Faculty of Sociology, also took part and received food, fruit, and a free dental check-up with gifts. “I had a great time at the event—it was a refreshing and new experience. I hope the university continues organizing more meaningful activities like this in the future so that students have more chances to connect and grow,” she said.

The 2025 USSH Connection and Compassion Day was more than just a distribution of goods—it was a vibrant platform for connection, empathy, and meaningful engagement. Through a wide array of activities, the event strengthened bonds among students, faculty, alumni, and external partners. It stands as a vivid testament to USSH VNUHCM’s mission to nurture social responsibility, promote humanistic values, and support students on their journey toward holistic growth.
