On November 9th, Dr. Le Hoang Dung, Vice Rector of the USSH, VNU-HCM, attended the closing ceremony at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, where he presented the 2024 Science and Technology Awards to young lecturers and students from higher education institutions. The event served as a platform to recognize and honor young lecturers, students, and institutions that have demonstrated exceptional achievements in research, thereby contributing to the advancement of science and technology within higher education.
The ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Deputy Secretary of the Party Civil Affairs Committee and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training; Comrade Nguyen Pham Duy Trang, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; Dr. Nguyen Xuan Tien, Director of the Vietnam Fund for Technological Creativity (VIFOTEC); as well as representatives from universities across the nation and a large number of students.
In his address at the closing ceremony and award presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc highlighted that 2024 saw significant participation from lecturers and students across the nation. A total of 47 scientific research projects from young lecturers at 29 higher education institutions were submitted, resulting in nearly 100 scientific products, either published or transferred as technology. Furthermore, the student award attracted 536 submissions from 95 higher education institutions across the country. Dr. Nguyen emphasized that this development is a promising sign, reflecting the considerable potential of the younger generation in research and their critical role in strengthening the foundation of science and technology in Vietnam amid the ongoing process of international integration.

Dr. Nguyen Vu Ky, Head of the Department of Japanese Economics and Politics at the Faculty of Japanese Studies, USSH, was awarded the First Prize in the 2024 Science and Technology Award for Young Lecturers. In addition to this prestigious recognition, he also received a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training and the Creative Youth Badge from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

At the ceremony, the USSH was honored with a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training in recognition of its exceptional contributions to scientific and technological research for young lecturers in 2024.

The Science and Technology Award for Young Lecturers was established by the Ministry of Education and Training in 2018. The award recognizes outstanding achievements in the following fields: Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, and Social Sciences and Humanities.
During the 2024 Science and Technology Award Ceremony for young lecturers and students in higher education institutions, the organizing committee awarded Certificates of Merit to recipients of 7 First Prizes, 10 Second Prizes, 10 Third Prizes, and 18 Encouragement Prizes. These accolades not only highlight the professional excellence of young lecturers but also underscore their significant contributions to advancing scientific research and the practical application of knowledge, aligning with the evolving needs of social development and Vietnam’s educational system.
