
On the morning of May 19, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (USSH, VNU-HCM) officially launched the 2025 Student Sports Festival at the multi-purpose gymnasium of the Thủ Đức Campus. The event brought together over 1,200 student-athletes from various faculties, accompanied by a large number of enthusiastic supporters including students, lecturers, staff, and university employees.
Delivering the opening address, Dr. Lê Hoàng Dũng, Member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice-Rector of USSH, emphasized the special significance of this year's Sports Festival, held in commemoration of the 135th birth anniversary of President Hồ Chí Minh. Dr. Dũng highlighted that the Festival embodies the spirit of physical training advocated by President Hồ, underscoring that “physical health forms the foundation for intellectual, mental, and scholarly development.”
Dr. Dũng expressed his hope that this year’s event will mark a pivotal milestone in the ongoing advancement of student affairs at the University. He called for a spirit of unity, perseverance, honest competition, and sportsmanship—qualities that reflect the image of USSH students in the modern era.

Beyond a platform for athletic competition, the 2025 Student Sports Festival also marked the official launch of the USSH Sports Management Board—a newly established body tasked with coordinating and supporting the development of student sports clubs across the University. On this occasion, several official clubs were introduced and integrated into the system, including the USSH Football Club, USSH Table Tennis Club, USSH Badminton Club, USSH Chess Club, and the ISC E-sports Club, laying the groundwork for a dynamic and sustainable extracurricular sports environment.

Representing the participating athletes, Nguyễn Thành Long, a student from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, pledged to compete with integrity, solidarity, and sportsmanship, contributing to a spirited and meaningful sporting showcase.

The 2025 USSH Student Sports Festival will unfold over the course of a month, featuring a diverse range of events such as football, volleyball, badminton, chess, and e-sports. Immediately following the opening ceremony, the first matches were held in an atmosphere of high energy and enthusiasm, kicking off an exciting series of competitions at the Thủ Đức Campus.
As a 15-year-long tradition at USSH, the Student Sports Festival not only celebrates athletic excellence but also conveys a powerful message of the holistic integration of physical strength, intellectual growth, and resilient willpower—core values upheld by the University: "Creativity – Leadership – Responsibility."
