Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNUHCM and University of Technology Malaysia (UTM)
In an official visit to Malaysia, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (USSH, VNUHCM) and University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant milestone in their collaborative relationship and paving the way for sustainable and long-term cooperation between the two institutions.
The signing ceremony was held with dignity and solemnity, featured the presences of Dr. Phan Thanh Dinh, Vice President of USSH and Head of Delegation, Dr. Nguyen Dang Nguyen, Dean of the Faculty of English Linguistics and Literature (EF); M.A. Nguyen Long Thanh, lecturer; along with students from the Faculty. The event also witnessed the participation of Prof. Dr. Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim, Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Ali Selamat, Deputy Vice-Chancellor; and Prof. Dr. Arieff Salleh Bin Rosman, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The MoU signing builds upon a foundation of ongoing, effective cooperation between the two universities, including joint organization of the ICSSH 2024 and ICELT 2024 international conferences, as well as internship programs for students majoring in American - British Culture and Literature hosted by the EF at USSH.
The ceremony was a highlight of the Festival of Languages and Cultures 2025 (FLC 2025), hosted by UTM. The event had the honor of welcoming Her Highness Che’ Puan Mahkota Khaleeda, a member of the Malaysian Royal Family, who officiated the opening ceremony.

In a bilateral meeting, Prof. Dr. Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim, UTM Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Arieff Salleh Bin Rosman, Dean of the Faulty of Social Sciences and Humanities and USSH leaders explored future directions for long-term collaboration across multiple areas of strength shared by both universities. They proposed potential research partnerships in comparative linguistic and cultural studies between Vietnam and Malaysia. Both parties also agreed to enhance cooperation in English language teaching, scientific research, and sustainable development, grounded in shared humanistic values—a cornerstone of both institutions' strategic visions and a foundational element of all academic disciplines.

As part of the visit, EF students delivered an impressive academic presentation on comparative language and cultural identity, which drew significant interest from international faculty and students from the Philippines, Malaysia, China, and beyond—contributing meaningfully to the promotion of Vietnamese language and culture on the global stage.

The visit marked the beginning of a promising new chapter in the partnership between USSH and UTM, particularly between the Faculty of English Linguistics and Literature and UTM’s Language Institute, with the prospect of more impactful and far-reaching collaborations in the near future.
