USSH and Dong-A University: Promoting Collaboration in Social Sciences and Humanities
On June 20, 2025, in Busan, South Korea, the USSH, VNU-HCM, officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dong-A University, one of the leading private institutions outside the capital region of South Korea. This agreement marks a pivotal step in the ongoing internationalization of both educational and research activities, particularly in the fields of social sciences and humanities.
The delegation from the USSH, VNU-HCM, was led by Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, President, accompanied by Dr. Pham Thanh Duy, Head of Administrative Affairs, and Dr. Hoang Thi Trang, Deputy Head of External Relations and Research Affairs.
Representing Dong-A University at the event were Prof. Lee Hae Woo, President; Prof. Mira Jun, Head of the Training Department; Prof. Hyuntae Park, Head of the International Cooperation Department; and other university leaders.
In her address at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan expressed her honor to witness the official establishment of a strategic partnership between the two institutions. She praised Dong-A University's development strategy, particularly its focus on fostering international collaboration in the fields of social sciences and humanities. She also emphasized USSH's commitment to supporting Dong-A University in the development of Vietnamese Studies, ensuring its alignment with both international standards and practical needs.
On behalf of Dong-A University, Prof. Lee Hae Woo, the President, highlighted that the signing of the MoU with the USSH marks a significant milestone for the institution. He emphasized that the collaboration would extend beyond academic exchanges to include annual cultural and academic programs for both lecturers and students. Additionally, Dong-A University committed to awarding annual scholarships to USSH students as a gesture of encouragement and support for their academic endeavors. Prof. Lee Hae Woo expressed his belief that, with a shared foundation of academic values and liberal education, the two universities would jointly develop in-depth collaborative programs with long-lasting regional impact.

Under the terms of the MoU, both parties will intensify professional exchanges, collaborative research, curriculum development, and student support, with particular emphasis on advancing Vietnamese Studies at Dong-A University and strengthening academic ties between the two esteemed institutions.

Dong-A University is a prestigious private institution located outside South Korea’s capital region, renowned for its programs in Law, Psychology, Business Administration, and Architecture, etc. In 2023, the university was designated as a Glocal University by the South Korean government and received a 100 billion won grant over five years to promote international cooperation and interdisciplinary education.
The signing of the partnership between the USSH, VNU-HCM, and Dong-A University not only opens avenues for academic exchange, research collaboration, and cultural engagement for lecturers and students from both institutions but also strengthens the educational ties between Vietnam and South Korea in the context of comprehensive global integration.
