Development of an interdisciplinary training program in Psychology with University of Health Sciences - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh city

On the morning of August 27, 2025, at the Center for Psychological Research and Application (CPAR), the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in collaboration with the University of Health Sciences, held a meeting to discuss the development of an interdisciplinary training program in Psychology. Attending the meeting were representatives of the Board of Directors, leaders of the training department, lecturers of the two schools, and leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Mental Hospital.
The meeting focused on three main directions of cooperation. The first is the 9-month short-term training program, chaired by the University of Health Sciences, which grants training certificates. The program will have increased practice hours to meet international standards, and at the same time coordinate with the hospital in announcing and recognizing practice facilities. The second is the dual bachelor's degree program in Clinical Psychology. After completing the Bachelor of Psychology program at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, students can study at least 30 additional credits under the responsibility of the University of Health Sciences to receive an additional Bachelor of Clinical Psychology degree. This will be a pilot program within the framework of the National University to meet the demand for specialized human resources. The third is the inter-university master's program. Accordingly, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will preside over the enrollment and award the Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, while the University of Health Sciences will participate in teaching and providing practice facilities. This model is built according to an international approach, combining research and clinical practice.
At the meeting, delegates also agreed to complete the legal documents on the practice facilities, and assigned specific tasks to the two schools in developing the project, preparing procedures and reporting to VNU-HCM. The meeting ended at 10:30 a.m. the same day in a spirit of consensus, opening an important step forward for the development of an interdisciplinary training program in Psychology.
