1. Program description

International Relations is an interdisciplinary field within political science that systematically studies political, economic, and cultural relationships... between national governments, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations worldwide. Students pursuing this major will grasp the origins, nature, history, geography, religion, and culture... of the relationships between entities in international relations.

2. Career opportunities

The International Relations major provides students with a solid social science knowledge base across various fields along with useful skills and professional expertise. In addition to fundamental knowledge (history, geography, socio-culture of different countries), International Relations students are equipped with theories and specialized approaches to explain, analyze, and evaluate the contents and issues of international politics. Upon graduation, students will achieve a certain level of understanding of global issues and contemporary international relations in areas such as politics - diplomacy, international economy, and international law, while ensuring specialized English proficiency for working in international environments.

Beyond basic skills such as writing, presentation, proficiency in information and communication technology, and independent work skills, students are also trained in leadership, planning, and time management; effective communication and cooperation to achieve common goals through teamwork; and gradually refining the essential qualities of a Global Citizen, such as community service awareness, legal compliance, and a confident, independent, pioneering, and integrative character. Consequently, students will have many future career opportunities in diplomacy and foreign affairs within diplomatic agencies, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and the external relations departments of multinational and transnational corporations/companies.

However, students should note that to perform well after graduation and maintain a stable career, one must commit to in-depth study, advancement, and continuous accumulation of work experience. A Bachelor's degree in International Relations only ensures that students have grasped the methodology and basic knowledge of the discipline, as well as the necessary professional skills to support future work.

It is important to clearly define that International Relations involves exploring trans-border interactions between entities in international relations.

The Bachelor's degree in International Relations from the Faculty of International Relations - University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City is not currently a program that comprehensively meets the needs of students wishing to conduct wide and deep research on all international issues or other countries. In reality, no single institution can provide a training program that is both systematic and in-depth on all such issues.

Graduates of the International Relations program at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City have many options to continue pursuing international fields or other countries of interest, such as:

• Social science disciplines with international components: economics, geography, history, or political science;
• Area Studies disciplines such as: United States, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East;
• Disciplines in the fields of foreign affairs, diplomacy, and communication;
• Foreign language disciplines;
• Disciplines with a minor in one of the above fields;

3. Graduation requirements

- Minimum accumulated credits: 124 credits

- Mandatory certificates:

• Physical Education
• National Defense Education
• Informatics: General Informatics Certificate or Applied Basic Informatics Certificate.
• Foreign Language: Submit English certificates meeting the following standards (or other equivalent English certificates):
