From August 5 to 9, 2025, the Faculty of Psychology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM organized a Lecturer Training Course for lecturers and graduate students. The program was directly taught and instructed by Professor Charles Sim, PhD - Professor of Psychology at Tianjin Normal University (TJNU, China), and also a professor at Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). This is the first lecturer training course on the POTT model held in Vietnam, and the Faculty of Psychology is honored to be the first unit in Vietnam to organize this training course.
The course focuses on the Person-of-the-Therapist (POTT) training model, an intensive training method that helps counselors tap into their “own person” in therapy, enhance their awareness of their family of origin, and develop the ability to integrate POTT into a systemic therapy context. The content includes POTT theory, philosophy, and clinical framework, practice in building a “signature theme,” presenting and handling situations through genograms, discussing clinical experiences, as well as practicing role-play and direct supervision.
With a duration of 30 hours of experiential learning, the course combines a variety of methods: lectures, presentations, direct observation, group discussions, and situation analysis. This is a valuable opportunity for lecturers and graduate students to improve their clinical skills, develop their personal counseling style, and gain direct access to one of the world’s leading experts in the field of systemic therapy.
