Kick-off Ceremony for the 2025 Green Summer Volunteer Campaign at USSH VNUHCM
On July 13, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (USSH VNUHCM) held the opening ceremony of the 2025 Green Summer Volunteer Campaign in a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere, with the participation of more than 800 student volunteers.

This year’s campaign, organized by the university’s Student Association, features a total of 23 volunteer teams, including one Standing Team, two International Teams (one of which is deployed to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic), and 20 Specialized Teams operating in Ho Chi Minh City, Lâm Đồng, Tây Ninh, and Phú Quý Island (Bình Thuận Province). Building on the academic strengths and humanitarian spirit of USSH VNUHCM students, the teams will carry out meaningful, in-depth volunteer projects tailored to each locality.
In her opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Thị Ngọc Điệp, Party Secretary and Chairwoman of the University Council, expressed profound pride in the spirit of community service—an enduring and cherished tradition of USSH students. She hoped each volunteer would embody the values of humanity, sharing, and service, bringing them to the people in every place they visit. She emphasized that the principle of “when you go, people remember; when you stay, people cherish” should not only be a motto but also a lasting impression in people’s hearts. She also expressed her wish that the campaign would become an unforgettable memory in each student’s growth journey, a foundation for comprehensive development in virtue, intellect, physical well-being, and aesthetics—true to the university’s philosophy of liberal and multicultural education.

Comrade Nguyễn Cẩm Tú, President of the Student Association and Commander-in-Chief of the 2025 Green Summer Campaign, affirmed that the campaign is not only about projects and tasks but also an opportunity for young people to build resilience, strengthen their ideals, and nurture a lasting spirit of service. “Each volunteer will emerge stronger in both thought and action—and that is the true core value of the campaign,” she said.
Speaking on behalf of the student volunteers, Nguyễn Trần Nhật Duy shared an emotional message. He stressed that meaningful impact doesn’t always require grand actions. Sometimes it comes from a simple clean-up, a children’s class, a media article, or a community project done with heart. “From these small things, a truly big summer is woven—a summer of growth, civic responsibility, and shared values,” he reflected.

The ceremony reached its peak with the traditional ritual of presenting the khăn rằn scarf—an emblem of volunteer dedication. This was followed by the flag-handing and official send-off, accompanied by the resounding voices of hundreds of green-shirted students singing the song “Tự nguyện” (Voluntary). The campaign’s flag, a symbol of youth and service, was raised high, leading the spirited parade across campus—an emphatic declaration of readiness to serve communities across Vietnam.

The launch concluded with the Volunteer Oath, a resounding chant, and the image of the flag flying proudly in the morning sun—marking the beginning of a new journey. It is a summer where USSH VNUHCM youth continue to write their story of knowledge, responsibility, and action. A summer that begins with the smallest of deeds, yet aspires to create the greatest of legacies for young people.
