The School and the Department of Psychology work with the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation on the Mental Health Care project
On the afternoon of November 10, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM had a working session with the delegation from the Wallonie-Bruxelles Diplomacy (WBI), the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation in Vietnam. This is an important event within the framework of the cooperation program for the period 2025-2027 between Vietnam and Wallonie-Bruxelles, aiming to develop and improve the capacity of mental health care for children who are victims of domestic and extra-family violence.

At the meeting, representatives of the School of Psychology and partner organizations shared the results achieved in the implementation of project 1.5: Strengthening mental health care capacity for children who are victims of domestic and extra-family violence. This is a key project in the field of mental health care, supported by Wallonie-Bruxelles within the framework of the cooperation program between the two governments of Vietnam and Wallonie-Bruxelles for the period 2025-2027.

During the implementation process, the two sides have jointly carried out a series of activities such as training psychologists, organizing in-depth workshops, and implementing intervention programs to help children overcome psychological trauma after being abused. These results have contributed positively to building a supportive environment for children, while raising public awareness of the importance of mental health care for children, especially vulnerable groups.
In particular, in this project, the Department of Psychology plays a very important role in training and developing quality professional human resources, thereby creating a solid foundation for implementing effective psychological intervention activities. This project is not only a step forward in mental health care for children but also contributes to the sustainable development of the mental health system in Vietnam.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Le Hoang Dung, Vice Principal of the School, expressed his sincere thanks to the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation and affirmed the School's strong commitment to continue implementing community support projects, especially protecting children and women.

On the partner side, Mr. Pierre Du Ville, Head of the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation in Vietnam, also expressed his satisfaction with the results of the cooperation between the two sides: “We are very pleased to see the positive results from the cooperation between Vietnam and Wallonie-Bruxelles. Continuing to support and implement projects such as Project 1.5 is our commitment to protecting children, especially victims of violence. We look forward to continuing to accompany you in the coming years.”

Mr. Christian Saelens, Head of Vietnam Cooperation, Department of International Cooperation, Wallonie-Bruxelles Foreign Affairs, also emphasized the importance of international cooperation in child protection and mental health care projects: “We hope to have more opportunities to cooperate with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, especially in the field of mental health care for children. The connection between international organizations and Vietnam will bring long-term values to the community”.

At the meeting, both sides agreed to continue to promote training of psychological experts, organize international workshops to share experiences and develop psychological intervention models for abused children. Along with that, the plan to expand cooperation with international organizations will help improve the quality of mental health care services and create sustainable solutions to current urgent social issues.
It is expected that future activities will not only include training programs and direct interventions but also expand cooperation with domestic and foreign organizations, aiming to build a strong community support ecosystem, especially in protecting and caring for vulnerable groups such as children and women.
