International Relations Alumni Conference - Term 2025-2027

Intersection of trajectories - The source of sustainable connection

The International Relations Alumni Conference - term 2025-2027 took place in an exciting and inspiring atmosphere, where IR generations met at unique intersections of memories, experiences, and the aspiration to contribute back to the community. Throughout the sharing sessions, alumni emphasized a common goal: to create a sustainable connection ecosystem, where current students have clearer career guidance and can develop professional expertise, academic skills, and soft skills; while alumni generations become a bridge - a leverage - and a companion on that journey.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Tang Nghi, Head of the Department of International Relations, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that after 22 years of formation and development, with more than 2,000 alumni, the International Relations community has enough depth, achievements, and cohesion to form a formal space for connection. The establishment of the International Relations Alumni Club, according to him, is not just a dialogue channel or a way to find a representative board, but an inevitable step to create an open and creative playground where alumni can connect with peers, expand career opportunities, mentor, and accompany subsequent generations. He also emphasized that this could become a pioneering model, reflecting the enthusiasm of the faculty and the training orientation of the major.

Continuing that spirit, the conference took place in an exciting atmosphere, where IR generations met again at the intersections of experience, memory, and the desire to contribute. Alumni shared a common goal: to build a sustainable connection ecosystem, support students in career guidance, develop professional expertise, academic skills, and soft skills, while opening up opportunities for cooperation - research - internships.

During the discussion session, many practical and frank proposals were made: implementing career talks, professional and skill workshops; mentor-mentee models; supporting job referrals; expanding networking; and increasing projects for cooperation with businesses. Many delegates expressed their desire to restart the IRC and develop activities based on two core mechanisms: voluntary fundraising and close adherence to the department's root activities to ensure sustainability. All were placed under the spirit of volunteerism - doing it out of passion, giving one's all, to build an open and cohesive IR network.

An important milestone of the conference was that 100% of the delegates agreed to establish the International Relations Alumni Club. The first term representative board was also officially introduced, including:

- Mr. Tran Dung - QH2-04;

- Ms. Pham Thuy Tien - QH3-05;

Now, under the "new look" called the International Relations Alumni Club, the IR community has a center for connection - a common trajectory to return, accompany, and move forward together.
